Light bulb

I was in Lowe's hardware store today and saw the bulb you need in the "Specialty Drawers". Might be worth checking out if you have one nearby.

Well, Kevin, you have snagged yourself some more great classics. The Maytag, in particular, is gorgeous. Gotta love a lighted interior <br
Can't believe you got that Affinity for a mere pittance! If it's anything like the Electrolux-based Frigidaires I've had, you'll get many years use from it <br
Congratulations on the new additions to your mushrooming collection!

How the hell did the title of this thread change???

Thank you all for your wonderful comments and suggestions on the light bulb, I will have to search around a little to see what I can find
I really don't know how this happened, but somehow the title of this thread changed on the link page, but it's still the same on the header above. This is very strange
On the Frigidaire Affinity, yes you can push the "start/pause" button to pause it and unlock the door, BUT if it's in, or just out of a drain or spin, it takes more then a minute for the door to unlock. So I guess this was just too much of an inconvenience, that AND having to leave the door open when not in use... BOTH of those "issues" were enough for her to get rid of it. ALSO, she listed in the ad she paid $650 for it when she bought it 2 1/2 years ago. Go figure (but lucky me)!!
A little side note here, while I have not tried it... I am pretty sure this washer has a built in heater
Back to Dan's comment "Good God, you sure know how to find them!!"... yeah I guess... BUT the PROBLEM is... I am NOT really searching for anything specific!!! (that and I want every older washer I see!!!). LOL....LOL
Thank you Ben for the build date info on my "new" 806! I really love that I have an older Maytag! It brings back memories of the A700 when growing up, so I think this one will definitely be a "keeper" <br <br

The thread count got off somehow on this thread so I fixed it, but I must have screwed something else up during my "fixing" process. What I did I have no idea lol. Oh well, it should be fixed now.

Hey Rich

I am coming out to help you do an intervention on RevvinKevin.
He needs help, he also needs to sell me that Affinity too!

Nice haul Kevin, its so nice to see someone else go through the "released the washer-spring finally" phase and bound out of the house everyday on the appliacneprowl!

Gyro is right your collection can never be too complete, ask John Lefever!!

light bulb

Hey Kevin

I've had pretty good luck at OSH hardware for various things. Other suggestions are: Coast appliance parts; 15700 So. Broadway Gardena, Ca. Tel. 310 354-1540 OR 310 217-8888. And Marcone app. parts in La Mirada. ...

I found the light bulb!

Thanks for the suggestions Russell! I looked up Coast Appliance Parts on line and found a location closer to me. I stopped by there after work today to buy a couple things I need and asked about the bulb when there. But they didn't have it.

There also happened to be a service guy picking up parts and I asked him if he had any suggestion for where to go next. He told me "Let me look on my truck, but I'm not sure I have one" and he walked out the door.

Within 5 minute he returned and said "This must have been on my truck as long as I have been working for the company, the last 20 years!" From the looks of the package I would have to agree! "Wow, that is exactly what I need!". He then hands me the box and said "It's yours, I'll never use it."

How cool is that?!?!

Thank you for all your nice comments!

Hmmm... I guess this means I will need to have a get together doesn't it??

Here is a photo of the dryer with it's new bulb in place!

Wow, total score on the bulb! Keep the original packaging as a part# reference for future bulb replacement. Gotta love old timers who never throw anything away!

hey Kevin congrats

Love your Norge dryer, even though I collect mostly wringer washers and table tops, one of these days I want to find a 806 like yours to completly restore. Worked for Maytag 10 years and restored many. again congrats and keep on collecting. Mike

If i am not mistaken they started putting the gold trim on t

which was the last year the offered the Halo-of-heat dryer. In 1976 they went to what they called the Big Load Dryer....am I right guys? I am sure i saw a photo of a Halo-of-Heat dryer with gold trim...PAT COFFEY

I thought Maytag went to the 08 series dryers in 75, leaving the Halo's last production at 74. I'm sure a Maytag guru here will chime in.
