I couldnt believe that the wattage was well over 8000 watts and 37,000 btus for the gas dryer. Talk about flash drying. My Whirlpool dryer is 5400 watts and I think its plenty fast. I just couldnt imagine and I am sure you had to make sure that the vent for the dryer was short and clear. If it wasnt I think it would be barbecue time for the clothes.
The fastest dryer I had ever used was in a laundromat that had I wanna say the Hubesch dryers. The ones that used axial airflow from back to front. I put a load in and in 15 mins the load was bone dry. And I remember that after 30 seconds I could see the water that was left in the clothes turn to steam and clouded the door. Thats the closest I had ever come to seeing flash dried clothes.

They needed that blast-furnace drying to keep up with the competition. 525 rpm is not a good spin for heavy cottons and denims but the higher heat output made up for it a little.
