We HAD the BOL Kenmores of this vintage when I was a kid; Mom and Dad didn't much believe in throwing away money on features. Big mistake; the washer was a hot-water hog and the dryer ran so hot you could have roasted a turkey in it if you could have taken the banging and thumping. Clothes that weren't very carefully watched came out nicely Perma-Wrinkled. At that time, Perma-Press was resin-set, so if the resin in the fabric got really overheated, it took a new "set". Only cure was another wash and another super-hot trip through the dryer, this time taking care to get the clothes out on time.
