Ok Steve i did your wash the way you posted on ( Deluxe forum ) the other day and it came out very nice BRIGHT & CLEAN smelling.
But i always looking to improve on what i know and willing to break some old habits,
I half to say i am addicted to softener the only thing that i see is maybe after a year or so i get yellowing on some T-shirts, undies, which i use blueing to help restore.
But i seem to like a scented wash on my whites i try not to overdose and i do like certain softeners that are more or less softening in the brands.
Sooo softeners are not really that bad right... I don't think i can break the habit , not all of my washes are scented , Polo shirts , dress shirts are given very little... Downy free and some cheap stuff i get that does not last a hour lol.
I did everything except for the white vinegar because of the basket and thanks for that information but i will try it in the other washers.
All in all good advice.
Next yoo hoo Laundress post your formula again please.
Maybe i can mix both of your formulas and get a super supreme wash !

Toggles formula...
1. I pre washed in cold 7 min.

2. Drained started a hot wash my heater is set at 160 sometimes i prime the tub before a hot wash to get the hottest wash water possible and when time is permitting.

3. LCB was timed in the dispenser. (Spin 4 classic spray rinses)

4. Added one cap of Downy spice cinnamon in the first rinse.

5. Drain 4 spray rinses partial spin turned back the dial and added 4 more.

6. Deep full rinse at this time clear water slight faint smell from the softener,
here is a pic of the last rinse followed by 4 more spray rinses.

I hope i did well Toggs.
Detergents used...
Tide with bleach.
Arm & hammer super washing soda.
Clorox splash-less Bleach.

Pic 3. And.... This is my very first boil wash yaa at my best friends home and yes the moved again which i will post later.
They moved in my other friends home down the street in they farther NE of phila
and the father of my friends other half who has past had some old sheets that where in a closet forever has gotten so yellow that they did not come clean in the first wash so they where going to get rid of them until i thought about toggles
Boil wash and i boiled them with (Super washing soda)...
WOW the Yellow then Brown DIRT came out of the pillow cases was simply amazing!

Question for Laundress ... french boiling vessel can you get them in the US ?

About how much bleach are you adding for a full load? I sometimes think I don't add enough. Seldom use it because I don't have much in the way of whites except for my stinky gym socks which I wash regularly and they always look dirty. So once in a while I gather them all up and use a bleach load and that helps but they never come back totally clean.

While wouldn't rule anything out, haven't seen one on this side of the pond. Had mine sent from France.

One can find all manner and sort of "copper" boiling pots for laundry on eBay and at flea markets. Since they do not circulate water the same way as the French models, you'll have to get yourself a laundry stick and stir things around every now and then.

Hey Pete are you walking in your sock feet , as my mom would say to me lol.
She would make me put on slippers when me and my brother was playing on the
floor so she would not have to deal with real dirty socks.
I use about 1 cup of bleach more or less depending on the load, i think a good
overnight soak in cold water with a little LCB want hurt that is what i use to do
some may disagree but it works followed by a hot wash.

Thanks Steve i guess you can get SSTP at that chemistry store i gather i don't no
of any store that carry's the stuff i think the Mexican Arial use to have it now they say it does not i check it again, not still sure about your beef again with softeners ? but will be reducing less in the future so thanks again.

Jhon G. E. DD washers been around for awhile someone here may no the dates
when they switched over to Direct Drive i have seen them in late 89 - early 90's
so about two decades that design was around.
So now they have Hydrowave washing action which is very long wide arcs today.
Here is a video of the DD in a Permatuf tub.

Jhon here is the Hydrowave washing action suppose to be more quit in operation it
truly is quite ....and gentle on clothes not sure on that i guess lol.
I'm having mixed emotions on the concept.

GE- "We bring good things to death!"

GE went to the Plastic tub washer design in 1995. It was not DD as many have supposed, but a very small belt. It was unquestionably the most unrelible top loading washer design ever, next to the awful rubber-tubbed Bendix. So far,the HydroWave system has been a dramatic improvement! And yes, the non-Hydrwave Plastic tub models were WORSE even than the dreaded WCI machines in reliability! The wonderful FFs should have stayed!

Overnight Soak With LCB

Don't do it, and it wouldn't do any good.

First, any stains or discolouration that cannot be removed by LCB in five minutes (less as the water temperature increases), simply will not shift. Longer contact time does not do any good and will lead to textile damage.

Well David thanks i stand corrected, it seems to me the way the fast arc of the agitation i assumed it was Direct Drive related for all these years.
I remember the G.E. books says Steel Drive another way of saying DD so thanks
that is why i'm here you learn something new everyday feeling kinda silly now whoops
no wonder you said DD sorry Jhon lol.
I just remembered when whirlpool &#92 Kenmore came out with the DD systems
everybody followed GE then Maytag with there orbital drive system everybody was doing short fast arcs so i assumed the whole clan is DD.

Hey laundress i said i still have old habits i picked that up from my grandma lol.
So any suggestions on heavy soiled socks, and other deep stained cottons is appreciated the other method i use is...
a long hot wash over 150 f then a quick bleaching in the first rinse seemed to work soo.... Sorry pete bad advice.
