Last week, I cleaned out my kitchen cabinets, and in the process ended up throwing out most of my plastic containers that I'd been using to store leftovers for years. A lot of them didn't have lids anymore, and they were all pretty stained up, smelled mildly like stale food, and were just kinda gross.
I was originally just going to replace the plasticware with similar, but ended up buying a glass food storage set from Amazon. The containers still have plastic lids, but I really like them otherwise. They clean up really well in the dishwasher, no greasy nasty food residue left behind, which often happened with the plastic. And they all stack nicely together, so I can't see myself misplacing the lids. Also, I can see the large round bowls being useful for storing leftover soups and stews, something the plastic containers never really did well. I honestly don't think I'll be returning to plastic for storing leftovers.
Have any of you guys abandoned plastic storage for another medium, and if so, has it worked well for you? So far, I'm quite impressed.
This is the set I purchased.
