Found at the same thrift store just a few months back

Steve cleaned this one up to perfection also.

I actually use it as my daily driver....Continuous clean and a little bell that tells you that toasting it complete.

Yes those GE toaster/oven/broilers are a nightmare for creases and crevices, sharp edges and finger slicing wires. Virtually impossible to clean the interior without taking them apart so nobody does. You can't even clean the backside of the glass door without removing it to get that top 1/2 inch.
The gall of Cuisinart to pirate the design. They also brought out a clone of the venerable Salad Shooter and iirc one of the egg cookers as well I think.

Anyone ever hear of keeping unpopped kernels in the freezer

My mom always stored popcorn in the refrigerator. I've also heard that you should store coffee in either the frig or freezer.

Storing coffee in the refrigerator or freezer is something some purists don't like. There is a chance of coffee picking up off tastes (apparently, coffee has been suggested as a refrigerator deodorizer). Freezing can, some say, hurt the taste.

Although, I have been known to freeze coffee. I don't do it all the time, but there have been times I've tossed some into the freezer as an emergency reserve supply, for at times like when I'm snowed in and can't get out to get coffee. At those times, I'm happy to have the coffee, and don't really care about the taste being slightly altered.

Toggle I have that same Cuisinart oven and I was struck when I came across it how similar it was to the old GEs. It's a great oven though, I use it all the time. This is actually the first time in my life I've had one and particularly for a single person they're ideal!

I refrigerated my coffee for a long time, but switched to freezing and I think that works better. Since I only make it at home on weekends most times, having it sit out really doesn't work. I also refrigerate popcorn when I have it in the house.

The guys who run the coffee house that we buy our coffee from recommend putting your coffee in an airtight container and then freezing it. They said if you put it in the refrigerator it is more likely to pick up moisture.
We buy our coffee in whole bean format. We found these nifty plastic jars with a one touch button top that seals them airtight. If anyone is interested in them, I can post a photo.
We keep them in the freezer.

Gas cooking is very hot in the summer. so my mom used to crank out many a lunch from her toaster-oven all summer long.

Freezing coffee in an airtight container is key. In theory such an act is to prevent "volatile" gasses from evaporating, and to keep essential oils fresh. (Essential as in essence/smell).

I don't

see why freezing in an airtight container should cause problems. I am the only 'real' coffee drinker in my parents' house. Not overfond of US coffee 'brands', I buy a few pounds of coffee beans at the local health foods store when they have a sale, store it in genuinely air-tight containers with oxygen scavengers and freeze it.

Freshly ground, it tastes great.

I do recall learning in Home Economics that the oils in coffee oxidize rapidly enough that there is a difference in taste after only 20 minutes!
