psyched?

Psyche=> from the Greek "soul". In English it is used to mean "pertaining to the mind", usually.

Logos, word (as in "the last word"), authority

Psychologist= > mind/soul authority.

Psyched=> An upbeat mood. (from within) See linkie. :-)

and totally random ramblings.........

STHN APXH HTAN O LOGOS
"In the beginning there was the word"....
translate-able also as
"In charge was the authority."

I lived in Tucson back in the early 90's and absolutely hated it. Be prepared when you are flying into Tucson Int'l, to see nothing but brown..no green whatsoever. the summers are a nightmare."so hot you can barely breathe", and lets not forget the monsoons!!
The English language has all but become extinct there. Arizona up north, Sedona,Flagstaff,Lake Havasu is the best the state has to offer. My Dad lives in Lake Havasu and loves it.

Phenomenal in its beauty

I'm visiting this awesome place this week. Just like Steve stated it is beautiful. Very nice & friendly college town. The cloudless winter sky, glinting sunlight and eerie sunsets are breathtaking. The desert and mountain backdrop scenery is quite a treat as well. So so different than the much of the rest of the country.

Its a bit cool here, only in the 50's. There had been some snow early in the week, creating havoc. The hotel even salted the sidwalks! With regard to the hot summer temperatures, I'm told it is similar to holding a hair dryer set on high and having it pointed in your face. Sounds a bit extreme, but aligns with Sudsshanes remarks.

Anyway, it certainly is a refresing change of pace in the winter! Enjoy!

Question for Mr. Toggles

Steve,

Are you SURE you are not the father from My Big Fat Greek Wedding?

Everytime I read you're explanation posts, I hear HIM!

Toooooo funny!

Suds, I'm with you. Arizona did nothing for me. Our RV needed a radiator hose and we had to stop in Glendale, next door to Phoenix. Bible superstores on every corner and, since it was 1999, bills pasted onto utility poles warning of the Y2K disaster and urging all survivalists to be ready. NO THANKS, that was downright creepy seeing all of that. Headed up to Sedona from there and were disappointed to find a bunch of supposedly arty shops selling the same ceramic faux primitive art that we saw in Ensenada MEXICO over a year earlier, trying to be passed off as indigenous art from Arizona.

Needless to say, my partner and I cut our AZ adventure short and put the pedal to the metal back to the California coast where we finally got our vacation back on track.

I realize Tucson is not Phoenix or Sedona, but it's still Arizona. My cousins just moved there last year to an eco-oriented development outside of town. I'm guessing I'll be paying them a visit at some point, but my expectations will be low, my stay will be short, and I for sure won't be going there after April or before November. I'll take the beach any time over the desert. At least in Palm Springs there's an abundance of recreational activities for us men that make the trip worthwhile.

To each his own--for those who like AZ, more power to them. It's just not on my list of places to visit or that I would like to live either Suds. I've been spoiled by what the Bay Area has to offer.

Oh, and that whole Rachael Ray thing. If you're traveling with a spouse or partner, that's $80 to you folks. Add another $40 for each additional person. Just to eat? Add on lodging and you've got some pretty good expense action going on there, as Rachael would put it.

I'm afraid Ms. Ray is plastering herself all over the tube so much that I can't take her seriously anymore.

~Are you SURE you are not the father from My Big Fat Greek Wedding?

Isn't it funny that "we" ALL have that same type of arrogance?

(HA! if my French gets corrected you can be sure I'm gonna correct the Greek!)

I guess my Greek is good and my French needs work. Practice Practice Practice!

For all Tucson Haterz...

We're all just tickled if you stay the hell away. There's enough people here already.

As an aside, it's *WAY* hotter in Lake Havasu than in Tucson, plus the large adjacent body of surface water elevates the humidity.

Well, everyone has different opinions on climates of certain places including where they live. To me, sometimes the Texas climate here is VERY annoying during the summer with its humid sweltering heat that frequently gets above 100°, or in the winter with the high windchill factors (which makes it feel like it's below freezing outside when the temperature is actually in the 40's), like it is now.

I went to Arizona for the first time at the Tucson wash-in last year, and I have to say, I fell in love with the Spring climate there. Relatively cool during the day, and it drops a little at night. PERFECT wash-in weather, or perfect weather period! As for the summer, I would much rather have a dry heat than a Texas summer, which is why I plan on living in the Southwest. Although from what Ross told me, last summer it was abnormally humid, so go figure.

As for the geography, I have to say it is breathtaking, even on the flight up there were some interesting formations (which were shown in the video). Sure, it may be nothing but brown, but that's the beauty of it...no grass or yard to maintain. Driving around in the city, there were MANY spectacular rock formations and varying elevations. The neighborhood where Ross lives is perched high up and has an outstanding view.

So to those of you who are bantering about not liking the city, you can stay home on the weekend of March 23rd while the rest of us who are there for the WASHERS and don't care about such petty things as the climate enjoy the festivites thanks to our generous hosts...it's that simple!

here we go again!

No need to be rude Austin~ People are entitled to their opinions. Why is it when one gives an opinion on this board they must be attacked?? My dislike of Tucson has nothing to do with the hospitality of the fine hosts giving the wash-in.

Nurdlinger~ actually I have spent summers in both Tucson and Lake Havasu City and found Tucson to be much hotter. Because of the River and Lake, yes the humidity was elevated but there was also a breeze everyday. I will take that over Tucson which is like standing in front of a hot oven with no breeze whatsoever. My post was clearly an opinion on Tucson. It was in no way intended to offend the citizens of Tucson which include my grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins..

Hey Oxy~

Was hoping you would chime in.. I feel like the Bush administration sometimes monitors these boards! Heavens forbid we have an opinion!

No squawks for Shane or anyone else...

I'm acquainted with a lot of folks who don't like Tucson. My own family is among them. (they still live in Michigan & like green trees and such) I posted what I did mostly in jest. I am half Greek, and like to think I am at least half as funny as is Toggle.
