Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I hate that they do not make that in the powdered version because I do not use liquids.People that like powders on this site need to call P&G and tell them to make more He .powders. I guess that I will just have to use the Regular Tide or Gain HE or Sears Ultra PLus.I am going to call them next week.

Tide Powders

Seem to rapidly going the way of the DoDo bird.

If one local supermarket is any example, most of the entire shelf space for laundry detergents, P&G or otherwise are devoted to liquids. There are perhaps one or two boxes of various powders, but only just.

Recently posted that local K-Sears is the same. Long rows of liquid detergents, with few powders to be seen. Last time one was there it seems the automatic dishwasher detergent section may soon go the same way. Having purchased and quite like Cascade's new gel with "bleach" and such, must say am not going back to powdered automatic dishwasher detergent anytime soon.

As the push to save energy amoung other factors leads to the average wash temperature on both sides of the pond ranging from warm to cold water, traditional powders aren't always the best choice. Also there is the effort to save energy by reducing packaging, and that poses a problem for powders. One can go the "megaperls" route of Persil, or tablets.

Regarding the Tide Coldwater coming in "HE" formula, unless they have developed a scent free version or changed the scent in general, wouldn't give five and six pence for the stuff. Tried TCW powder when it first came out and the scent was gagging. Thankfully the box was free via a coupon, so didn't feel that bad when I gifted it on.

cold water washing

I never use cold water (I have only cotton and denim clothes. No synthetics at all)to wash anything. I only use hot or warm wash and always a warm rinse.I hang out most of my wash and get complements from neighbors and guests. We all have body mites that cold water will never remove or wash out of our clothes. Those who choose to use ony cold water will get dark spots in their clothes at all locations of pubic hair. These will not go away without using warm or hot(150F to 170F) water, some bleach and a warm rinse.
