Here we go again...

I'm still working through the stack of boxes I got last year when the Sears powders went on sale.

I think the best of the lot is the stuff in the blue box with Oxyclean. Being an oxygen bleach it's color safe, and according to Laundress, it's actually gentler on colors than regular detergent because the oxygen bleach deactivates residual chlorine in tap water.

Just looked this up on Sears site thinking I would run over to my local, albeit small, Sears store (9 miles away) to get some. It no longer comes up on search of store locations. Must have been closed since last time it was on sale and I went there to get some. That means a drive of about 33 miles to the now nearest store.

I bought a 120 load box a couple of weeks ago and the smell was not citrus like I have been told it was supposed to smell like. To me it smells more like Dreft. I did notice though that the 180 load orange box in the store did smell like Citrus.

I also have a 300 load bucket. I kind of want to open it to compare the scents, but I am afraid that the lid might not close back with a tight seal. I don't want to leave it in the garage for months without it being closed up well. It has one of those plastic strips that you pull to get the lid off.

If anyone has ever bought his in the bucket, can the lid be pounded shut tight with a mallet?

Montgomery, I would think the lid would fit tight enough, however I haven't see Sears detergent in buckets for years. I would however keep your stock pile in a dry area away from water sources and hmidity.

Is there any where in the description that tells when sale ends? Didn't see it.

well

its no wonder sears is going out,our local sears is closing at the end of the month so I had to drive over 5o mile round trip to get it,when I got there to pick it up no one was around, waited over 15 mins for the kiosk to work then about 10 mins later someone came out was rude (like I disturbed him) he said I was in the back what did I want.said its on the screen (oh it doesn't work)give me your paper work.good thing I took it up there w/ me,he finally got it for me, had to ask for my paper work back & I left, soap in hand.SO LONG SEARS NEVER AGAIN !!!!!! DANG I MISS WARDS!

Did laundry yesterday

and was very pleased as usual. I noticed this batch is a finer powder than what I got the last couple times in the orange box. Items smelled very clean with no overpowering scent.

I decided to put the detergent into the bucket I got with the original purchase several years ago, and it was a little too much to fit, so I had to put some in a plastic freezer bag.

My experience at the store (Northgate Mall) was very pleasant. I didn't see the product when I first walked into the appliance dept., so when I saw the salesperson, he showed me where it was. He was a nice, cute cub type guy named Cameron. The store appeared well stocked and clean as usual.

I think this Kenmore took the place of the Sears Free detergent. I haven't tried this Kenmore yet but do have all the others which I say is a good detergent for the price. Step it up with STPP and it won't let you down. I think its Sudsmaster that once recommended the Sears with Oxi and STPP and I will say whites are gloriously white with this mix. Cheryl
