Jason, congrats on finding your yellow '63. Does it show off the yellow sides and front where you placed it or is it tucked in so you mostly see the yellow front...and is it a soft or brighter canary yellow, just curious.
It's not the canary yellow from the mid 60s, but closer to Frigidaire's sunny yellow (more of a pale yellow). Right now it's in the garage, but when it goes into the kitchen the right side will be visible. Mine didn't come with the ice cube trays though.
I think I need to amend my earlier statement that this is a '63 model for sale. I found pics of Epixstar128's '63 GE, and I suspect that mine, as well as the one for sale, is a '62 model. The '61 models had a foot pedal to open the fridge door; the one for sale does not and neither does mine. I also noticed that Epixstar128's door layout is completely different, but the '61's had the same layout as mine and the one for sale, so I believe they're both '62s. From the outside, they all look the same though!
The only major changes it would appear occurred between '61 and '63 are the removal of the foot pedal for the '62 model year and a fridge door panel layout change for the '63 models. If I'm mistaken on any of this, please let me know, as I'm trying to date my fridge as well.
Jason, your fridge is really nice...color is fine with me. It doesn't look like this particular 1962 Frigidaire - but then, there were many models. PhilR can chime in and tell you the model, maybe?
Phil, mine's a GE. I was ideally looking for a Frigidaire Frost-Proof in sunny yellow, but the GE was so well cared for and in good shape, so I sprung for it. Yellow is a tough color to find, especially sunny yellow (or it's GE equivalent). In any case, I have a fridge that coordinates well with our stove. If I come across a sunny yellow Frigidaire in the future, I may swap it out, but we'll cross that bridge later.
That white '63 GE is THE perfect one for my kitchen. Hinges on the left are so hard to find. Don't get me wrong, I still love my '64, jus' wish it was a bit bigger.
Jason...the neurons were really on vacation. I've tried to locate some 1963 ads showing some of the GE Fridge models , but it seems the ads coming up so far, are Space Savers. Where's your soft yellow?
