My Mom had that same Dormeyer Stand Mixer. It always sat on the counter. She used the grinder attachment to grind leftover roast beef to make croquettes, like the recipe that used to be on the old Crisco can labels, and they were really good.
Once Mom had some dishes of vanilla pudding cooling on the counter next to the mixer and there was also a package of Hostess Snowballs nearby. I was about 5 and my brother was about 3 1/2, and we decided that it would be a good idea to try out our culinary imagination and skills and mix the two treats together. So we dumped the pudding and snowballs into the mixer bowl and let her rip. Joe decided he wanted a taste and stuck his finger into the moving bowl and beaters and got it stuck in the beaters. That was the end of that experiment. Good times.
