Not sure if this was posted before but just saw it on Minneapolis craigslist. Look to be in good shape. Not sure what the dryer is. Says they are from the 50's. Hopefully scrappers don't/didn't find them.
.
Nice dryer, GE i guess.
I was born in Golden Valley btw, soon after the '65 tornado(s). My family built a house there back sometime in the 50's when it first was developed, on Sorell at Ordway. We moved on by the late 60's.
That's a DA-820P; GE's first "Straight-Line" TOL dryer with control panel on pedestals. I was thinking of buying this because I have one of these that needs parts. The price is right but the shipping will be a big issue. I think this was one of their best and hottest dryers and it has a better "Air Freshener" system than later TOL's. You can put tablets or essential oils of your choice in the little pan behind the plastic tab and regulate how much goes into the tumbler.
I'd be more tempted to go after this one if it had the original cloth bag lint filter; they switched to the screen mesh filter later in the '57 model year so this must be a late version.
There is one of these dryers in my basement that anyone is welcome to. John must not have told you about it, Ken, when you came down here to get your dryer on that visit that I was not a part of. It is in great shape except it needs a motor.
There was one in the warehouse and one in my basement. One was ultimately to be sacrificed for parts to make the other one whole, but the one from my basement did not go north with the other one. Pity.
