Maytag Washer and Dryer Set - $75 (Sharon

1971 Maytag washer and dryer for sale. Yes, you read that correctly. This washer and dryer set was purchased in 1971 and was used regularly by the same family in the same house until 2008. The house sat vacant until 2016 when my spouse and I purchased it. The seller of the house left the set and we used it temporarily until we could get ours put into place. Both units work but the dryer does need a heating element. Believe it or not (and this shocked me, too), parts for old Maytags can still be purchased online (even 46 year old Maytags). I went to their web site and a new heating element can be purchased anywhere from $33 to $42. Here's the link I used:

http://www.partselect.com/AdvancedM...delNum=&fkMfgID=1&ModelMasterID=126805&PID=19

I last used the washing machine last fall and it worked just fine...no problems. This would be a great starter set for someone that needs a washer and dryer but can't afford new ones...plus, from the looks of it, replacement parts can be purchased to repair the units and keep them going indefinitely (they just don't build 'em like they used to). FYI: the dryer is setting a little higher in the photo because it's on a flat furniture mover with wheels.

The units are in my basement at ground level and can be easily loaded into your truck or van. I'm fairly certain they'd fit (one at a time) in a small SUV.

We're asking $75 or best offer.

Please respond with "1971" in the subject field so I'll know you aren't spam. Otherwise, there's a good chance you won't get a response.

Phew, I thought no one was reading these things anymore! LOL! You aren't going to believe it..ok, you might. I could READ, DID READ and PROCESSED it was 1976. I'm honestly not sure how I got that date. Maybe...the time I was looking at other products, including a microwave...who knows! Thanks ...I'm sure someone else looked at that and said, "Ovrphil - muy loco in la cabeza".

Ovrphil I know EXACTLY HOW you got that date.....

you got it from the bottom of the sticker that is right above the data plate on the back of the Radarange...if you look at picture #8 you will see that date at the bottom of the white sticker with the red print.......Pat Coffey
