When I was about 3 I loved these B&B canned mushrooms! Mom used to give me my very own can of them with a fork so she could watch “Queen For A Day” in peace while I enjoyed my special treat.

She kept them on a shelf in the upper kitchen cabinets. Once I decided to get a can down from the shelf myself so I opened up the lower cabinet door and used the shelf to climb up to reach them. Unfortunately they were behind a can of Van de Kamps Pork&Beans which I knocked loose in my quest for the B&B’s and the bean can whacked me in the head and I fell on the kitchen floor and had to be taken to the doctors with a concussion. When we got home from the doctors I got my can of B&B’s. Poor Mom missed “Queen For A Day” that day.

Vermont Maid was the only syrup that we ever had when I was growing up. It was absolutely the BEST! Now its very hard to find anywhere near where I live. Interesting how the ad says that syrup is non fattening! Now thats news to me! Pancakes and syrup a diet food? Sign me up for the Vermont Maid diet plan!

Thanks for the memories Louis.

Wow! Save a WHOLE 7 cents on a Swanson’s Frozen Breakfast. It seems unbelievable in 2023 when just about every thing you put in your grocery basket averages out to $4 to $5. But in 1972 when min wage was $1.60 a savings of 7 cents really had some value. Back then I used to spend an average of $10 a week on groceries, hard to believe isn’t it?

7 Cent Coupon

Eddie,
No truer words have been typed! I thought exactly the same regarding that coupon and it’s worth today versus 1972 dollars. I have always saved at retailers by using coupons. My partner saw.me save 47.00 at the grocery recently and I think finally he is a believer. I actually remember that Swanson coupon above and my mom clipped it and I had an old ole “TV Dinner” .

My strategy is this--I will look over the weekly coupons my HEB is offering and will see if there are products I use/will use. Many times it's buy xxx various items for $$ and get $3, $5 dollars off my basket. Or such as buy 2 & get a 3rd free. It all adds up. I end up getting what I will eventually use and can save up to 20% off the total.
