Tom,

I like the ad with the toast topped with Pineapple and accompanied by bacon slices too!  Since you mention that you need to limit your consumption of bacon I imagine it’s due to the fat content.  Here’s a tip that I’ve been using for several years now to get cooked bacon with the least amount of fat possible, bake it  in the oven.  I preheat the oven to 400F then lay the bacon strips out on a baking sheet and bake it for approx 20 mins, turning the pan half way through to make sure it cooks evenly.  You get perfectly cooked, crisp bacon slices, with minimal fat that lay FLAT and make excellent BLT’s.  Plus, there’s no grease splattered all over the stove and kitchen, and no lingering smell of bacon grease in the house.

Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s there was a great product sold called “Sizzlean” which was made from cured pork but with way less fat than regular bacon.  It was really delicious.  In fact the very first thing that I ever cooked for David was a Denver Omelet made with crumbled Sizzlean instead of Ham on the morning after we first met.  I guess he liked it because he’s stuck around for almost 44 years now.
