Vintage Hotpoint chromey awesomeness

I spotted this a few minutes ago and I just had to share. It's old. It's shiny. It's chromey. It has cool red graphics. It's a thing of beauty. Aaaaaaaaaand...if you had to clog your arteries, well then, this is the way to do it.

A drive-in restaurant a couple blocks away from me had (and may still have) fryers like this, original to the opening in 1955.

Our Woolworths lunch counter had one just like that with the matching flat top grill. Had fries and burgers many times there with my mother when I was a kid.

how much oil you had to put in that baby. It's in the several gallon realm, I'm sure. Although, it was most likely filled with real lard most of the time, I'm thinking.

Look what showed up on a craiglist not too far from me. One day after the same one in South Bend. But $95 for South Bend, $350 for the one here in Michigan. Detroit metro area.

Could these be one and the same? Not sure but the one in Indiana looks to be in better condition than the more expensive one here. You think someone bought and flipped it that fast?

They said baskets. Our Woolworths one had 2 smaller side by side baskets that hooked in the back. The Hotpoint logo would glow red when it was heating like the grill did.
