Vintage Red-brown? maytag set on Portland craigslist

I am not an expert on Maytags but here is an interesting set if for no other reason than the color, in Portland. I don't think they have a lighted control...

Strong, Dark and Handsome

Maytag made a very dark coppertone, deeper, than all the other brands. The coloring of the control panel never looked right with colors, after 1966.

I had a friend in high school who's mother had a pair just like these. They were a very creamy chocolate color.

That all depends on the model series. Maybe it's just me, but from the picture it doesn't look like an A806. Still very beautiful though.

In the same gene pool

They are mid 70's Maytag, denoted by the gold trim on the console. Begun around 74/75 and ending in 79. I bought the last 806 set in Michigan, in January of 1980 and the new black slanted consoles were on display everywhere. I really liked the new design, but if it didn't light up, it wasn't worth buying.

Must be an extra large capacity machine with the buttons on the right....Permanent Press, Regular and Delicate. What exactly do these buttons do for the washing performance?

Gary, those 3 buttons denote it's a Fabric-Matic 1-speed machine, which has already been discusesed on the forum previously.
