P&G gave up on Duracell a long time ago. How long has it been since you've seen a Duracell commercial? The Energizer Bunny ate up their market share a long time ago.

Duracell was headquartered in Bethel, CT....

Prior to being acquired  by Gillette who was then bought by P&G.  Would be nice if more jobs came to CT because of this!

Since Sanyo introduced the Eneloop NiMH low self-discharge rechargeable batteries I rarely use any alkaline batteries anymore. Even in low draw devices like remote controls and computer mice these batteries last, unlike old NiMH batteries that died in a month even unused.

And the best part about ditching the alkaline batteries is that these will NEVER leak and destroy things like the alkaline design so often do.

Overall I did like the Duracells over the Energizer batteries. They seemed to hold up better in high draw situations and they didn't seem to blow out their seals as often as others. In any case I hope they push a bit more into the rechargeable world.

Out of curiosity, who owns Energizer?
