Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Just got home from work.

Oh My Dear Darlin' Baby Jesus.

Nice picture. I think that was the end of the Earthquake. Or middle of the High Hook !!!

Thanks for a Great Time Jon. And thanks for driving John P. It was alot of fun rolling back to the 80s when we were all young and pretty. (Flips hair and shakes head).

We'll have to throw an "event" soon.

And it's true. The wall came tumbling down LOL.

It looks like you all had fun (but Jon's basement is a fun place to be anyway!!)

That fancy-schmancy GE is gorgeous - It's been a lonnnng time since I saw one, though! Hope you have fun with it.

And John, have fun with the 56, too. That is a lovely machine!

WOW Jon That has to be one of the best GE FFs Ever

And now you and I may be the only two in the club with the very rare FOUR SPEED FF washers. These washers had the same clutch as the three speed models but GE chose not to use all four speeds that were available with this clutch on the 3sp models. I also love that your new washer has a proper straight veined agitator, not only do these turn over a load better than the silly swirled vane activators you can also wash a larger load clean.

Yes this washer could at least tie the record for total water consumption with some BD Lady Kenmore's that allowed two full washes and a 2nd deep rinse, it could easily break a 100 gallons per load.

The real deal and NOT ad-man gimmickry

We've seen machines before that claim to be 4 speeds: Fast/fast, fast/slow, slow/fast, and slow/slow: but's that really only 2.

So this blue-butt beauty has four distinct speeds: fast, medium, slow, and turtle !

That's a cool, exciting thing to learn on a Saturday morning.

Could we hear more about the wherefores of the 4 speeds? T'anks.

Guys,

Just to be clear, this washer came from me. The light lens is NOT original. It did come from a V-16 4 speed washer with the famcy clutch, but this harvest gold FF only has 2 speeds. The original light lens was all broken, so I swapped them out.

John

It looks a lot like my 1970 V16 except..........

.... the 2 extra buttons on the control panel (for soak & extra rinse) and the BLUE wash basket and the 8 vane agitator (mine is the 6 vane).

VERY COOL though!

I never knew GE made a "4 speed" washer.   Was this 4 seperate, distinct speeds, or a combination of wash & spin speeds??

Thanks!

Jon you have been deceived, ask for your 56 back, LOL

I should have know better because the trim piece also says 16 and this washer is an 18 pounder.

The usual 2 SP GE FF washer gives the user fast agitation of 100 SPM [ strokes per minute ] and a low SP of 60 SPM

The 4SP washer gives the user 100, 80, 60, or 50 SPM.

Both washers give spin SPs of either 600 fast or 350 low RPMS.

Sadly I guess I still have the only 4SP GE FF washer, I was hopping for some company.

Im sure I can scare up

the correct light lens in Johns museum when he is out on a call!! And the correct Mini Basket too!

Still I did a small load today and to my surprise I got true filter flo with a lo tub!!

And then I did a full sheets load and used the timed bleach release ---SMOOTH~~~

I'm gonna like this machine.

Especially the tub!!

love that color

Knew there'd be a turtle

at the 50 SPM mark.

Hey, didn't Frigidaire offer the only other true 4 speeder, and theirs with 4 spins speeds too.

And did I dream this: A rollermatic with infinite speeds you could dial up or down like a volume control?

And people wonder why we love washers. If they only knew "the truth is out there."

mickeyd- You did not dream it! I used to babysit for the local Frigidaire dealer when I was a teenager, and he had a late 1960's Rollermatic with infinite speed control for agitation. I can't remember if the spin speed was infinite control or not. I am pretty sure it was a "RapidDry" model that would spin at 1000 rpm. I used to play with it occasionally, and I recall that the slowest pulsating speed was comically slow. Clump...clump...clump...

Mickeyd

You didn't dream either of those things about Rollermatics, both accounts are accurate.  There was a WXL (think that's what it was called) model that had infinite agitate and spin controls, much like radio dials.  I've always heard it was a lot of trouble and unreliable.

Then there was the WIN and WCIN that had the four speed mechanism.  It offered 2 wash speeds (220 and 330 ppm) and 4 spin speeds.  300, delicate.  450, durable press.  675, special, and 1010, regular.

"They made me cook dinner and drink wine"...

EXCUSE ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who saved the $15.00 per lb. Grass Fed Hamburgers from turning into "Cinder"ellas" while some others were adjusting their Activators...

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ?????????????????

I am feeling remorse about not cleaning up the plaster on the stairs though... Even though I didn't do it...

As Eddie would say:

"Oh My Dear Darlin' Baby Jesus." About the infinite speeds. etc, AND the 15 dollar burning burgers. You guys now how to eat. Lucky there was a professional chef around,

Thanks Joe and Gene.

Let's make bets on how long it takes Jon or Joe to find one. The quest never ends.

Or does someone already have one?
