HAHAHAh

Poor Eddie_ Yes he did save the day cooking the burgers, John wanted to get the machines transferred before dark ( or before I changed my mind LOL) so I was helping john while Eddie went up and cooked and he lost valuable washer time.

Next time I'll have chili all made ahead!

What fun!!!

It's nice to put faces with names and pics of a wash in that almost brought the house down. (At least the stairwell, anyway...) I'm still amazed that stair climbing Escalaras aren't standard equipment for members with basement showrooms.

That GE is really something. You'll have lots of fun with her. It did make me think of the green set I sent to live with Kevin. That was a fun set as well. I wouldn't mind having another set like that. Oh wait, I do but more on that later... I wasn't aware that GE made a four speed washer. I'd like to see pics of that and how the clutch works.

Waiting (I'm)patiently for video, too. Just to keep people's appetite whetted, here's a short vid I shot of the set that Kevin has now for your viewing pleasure. I enjoyed rescuing them and adopting them out...

Ok, ok.

Jon's video takes the cake, hands down. She really is quiet! I, too, like the gong. It reminds me of the end of some of the tv shows where they have someone with a mallet striking a chisel. Pretty cool!

"Oh My Dear Darlin' Baby Jesus"

I love that and much more civilized than what I heard a co-worker say once and I and still laughing at his expression: "Who gives a big fat naked powdered baby's ass!" LOLLL. LOLLL.

We had...

We had a 1975 GE Filter-Flo and I particularly loved that filter tray. Before we had central air conditioning put in our Tide powder detergent would clump from the humidity. With that tray you did not have to worry about working the little clumps out with your fingers. You put your powder in the tray and it would swish back and forth and finally disolve. It probably would have anyway down in the water, but at least I could see that all the detergent disolved. Also, it was easy to clean the lint from that tray vs some of the other washers my mother had. I loved doing laundry. Still do.

What a beautiful machine. And so quiet!!! Leads me to a question. I found a mid 1980's FF at an estate sale last year and expect that by mid summer, my laundry room will be renovated to accommodate a second washer. So the GE will go into service. While I don't have the model number at hand right now, I wondered if someone could answer the question of whether the spiral ramp activator can be replaced with a straight vane. I actually may have the "high 8 vane (four top to bottom vanes and 4 sort of vanes) somewhere in the crawl space, but I would need the filter pan and minibasket. That is, if it is even possible to swap out. Any advice? I know some people prefer the spiral ramp because of turnover, but I always liked the straight vane - and GE's with the straight vane always got high marks for washing ability and of course nice splashy drama.

Thanks

Hey Jon,

Do you think Larry @ Modern parts would have some clutch shoes for the '56? I don't want to ruin anything, but the clutch shoes must be worn down to metal. I have newer clutch shoes, but don't think they are the same.

Loved seeing the stills of generous John in the vid.

The swirling easel of pastel colors in the spin footage is dazzling, like an Easter basket on psychedelics. It's just so nuts and so beautiful.

And the black and white X ray shots are right out of "Not of This Earth."

You keeping upping the ante so much, I forget, for a while, about a vid of the Glass Bottom Girl.

Thanks for all the treats. Fired up the grill at Paul's tonight for delicious sirloin burgers because of this enticing thread.

Excellent video Jon, finally. I've been waiting so long for videos of the GE's straight 8-vane ACTIVATOR 18 agitator. It's a 'teaser' but, I love it. Congrats and thank you for the vid. Hope for viewing pleasure of more but of, full WASH, RINSE and SPIN cycle videos soon.
