Just wanted to let everyone know that if you live out of state and you're coming to Texas on business/vacation (with spare time on your hands of course), let me know first! That way if you want to, I can schedule a wash-in at my place with the Texas members as well as anyone else in surrounding states who can and wants to attend. I'll email more details when I get a few responses.

Btw there's going to be Austin County Fair holidays on Oct. 14--17, and I don't plan on going, which would make a good time for a wash-in if there's enough interested members. Plus those days are peak laundry hours for us! YAY! However it might be a good idea to bring laundry as well, just in case.

Machines as of 9/18/04: GE Portable, Bendix, Monitor, Kenmore w/DD Surgilator, Maytag w/Power-Fin, plus numerous vacuums. Might find a few more good deals in the near future as well that we can also play with. I took some empty shells/guts to the Dumpster today and right now I'm listing the Kirby ComVac and Hoover Decade 80 on eBay, and I'll try to apply the Ospho tomorrow on the Bendix (for rust-proofing the cabinet; haven't had time) so I can get it powdercoated white and get the Bendix in one piece again. I'm also going to try to find some piano dollies to set the Maytag & Bendix on as well for easier moving...

When that's all done I'll bring the Maytag up to the garage and install the Power-Fin. Hopefully by October it will be much more organized here.

considering this

I would definitely consider this, I have a dear friend in Killeen that I need to go visit. I do not think Austin is that much further, if i remember correctly.

jmirawm, westytoploader is talking about Austin County, not the City of Austin. Killeen to Austin County, TX (depending on where in the county) is considerably further than Killeen to City of Austin, TX.

Tom, I don't have any vintage anything, BUT Temple is 1/2 hours from Killeen, you'll be passing almsot right by my house as you go down I-35. I'd love to meet ya.

sounds great to me.

I would love to stop by and meet you Appnut. I have been to Killeen twice this year. My Friend has been having cancer problems. She is doing ok at the moment. She was staying with a friend in Temple after her last surgery. She has moved back to Killeen now. I checked today and I have 9 days of vacation left. 3 hours does not seem to bad to go on to Westy's to see his collection! Mom and Dad are wanting me to go with them to Branson Mo. sometime this fall. I'll wait and see if Westy has a wash-in and tell mom and dad (there plans are flexible)when I CANNOT go with them, and make my Texas plans at that point. Thanks for the invite !

Glenn, if you and Bob have time, how about if we all get together and do a wash-in in October (good time since it's much cooler) during the fair holidays at my place. Everybody please email me and we can discuss this idea as well as directions/days, and places to stay. The ACF parade is on the 14th, however, and it might get a little bit crowded around 8--11 AM, so I think the afternoon hours would be more desirable as far as traffic is concerned. Tom, you could stop by as well and meet everybody if you're in Texas, and if anybody from Louisiana/Georgia wants to go then let me know! If you can drive and bring a machine or two then that's one more reason you should go!

Again, email me if you're interested. As of now we're not going out of town like we did last year, and considering the type of people that attend the ACF, a wash-in would be much, much better...LOL
