I have finalized a date, Sunday, July 11, for another Wash Party at my home in West Peoria. A few of us have been wanting to get together again to enjoy each other’s company, watch a few Dishwashers, and eat! This is an open invitation, to anyone who is interested in making the trip to central Illinois that weekend, to come and join in on the fun.

The latest addition to my collection, the 1947 Thor Washer/Dishwasher Combo, should arrive in a few days. And three weeks ago, I picked up the Kaiser (Standard Model) dishwasher from Kentucky.

My house is starting to bulge at the seams with all of the new machines that have been brought in over the past year. In total, there are now 56 machines dating from 1937 to 2007, eight of which are Electric Sinks.

If you are interested, please email me for more information at [email protected]

Mike

invite mike, enjoyed our conversation the other nite. checked my schedule and unfortunately i am working next weekend.

hope your was in goes well and you have lots of fun!

Dang - I won't be able to make this one, Mike... I am sure it will be great fun, though. I would love to get the chance to see that Thor Automagic up close, though. Some other time, I hope!!!

Sure wish I could go, but I'm so behind on things as it is. Also, never know how I'm going to be feeling at any given time. Maybe I'll be able to make it there in the future. I'm sure everyone that attends will have a great time, with you and all your machines.

Making preparations

Thanks to Todd (varicyclevoice) for all of his help today with preparations for next Sunday. We moved two of the portable dishwashers from the basement up to the kitchen/dining room (1949 G.E. Round Portable and 1957 G.E. MobileMaid).

Electric Sink

Hello Mike...hope you all have a great time at Sunday's get-together. Wish I lived closer - I would love to see that electric sink in action (in addition to meeting you all, of course!)

mike

i gotta work all weeknend for sure now. the other bookkeeper took a 4 day vacation this week so i'm in the vault fri thru next mon.

really wish i could drive over but it's not gonna happen unfortunately. hope you have a nice time this weekend.

Pete: Thanks. I certainly understand – there WILL be another time, I’m sure.

Paul: The THOR arrived Monday evening. I met Jim Hill in nearby Bloomington, IL about 9:30, and it was safely in my garage by about 10:45pm. It is in surprisingly fine shape. I ended up being more busy with unplanned work this week, that I simply have not been able to get a new post started – hopefully by the end of the week.

Tom: Thanks. Yes, I hope that you will be able to come over one of these times.

Greg: That’s okay – both the Kaiser and the THOR (it just arrived Monday evening) will both be here for you to watch.

Brad: Thanks. I hope that one day you will have a chance to see all of my Electric Sinks/Dishwashers in action.

Ben: I totally understand how unexpected projects can come up. Monday, I unexpectedly ended up helping a close friend load two pick-up truck loads of shingles, lumber, and trash to take to the landfill – I lost 4 precious hours that morning when I could have been preparing for this weekend.

Dave: I received your early morning July 6 email, and I complsed a reply, but forgot to send it. It has been sent now thanks to your prompting me.

Sorry to sound short.

I've been rebuilding my computer, preparing for a possible move, and I've been fighting with a stubborn Speed Queen wringer washer pump. Needless to say, I'm pooped!

I'll check my email,
Dave

Sure wish I could be there.

To see the Thor would be worth the trip.

I'd also like to see you again, Mike. Good luck with the party.

I'll be out of town in Maryland at that time.

Hugs,
Jerry Gay

pshaw!

Of course, I was unable to get out of work. I'm really disappointed, after your videos I'd love to check out the collection. Next time, I hope.

Keith

Let the Fun Begin

The THOR arrived on Monday evening. I met Jim Hill, the trucker that some of you have been using, Monday evening about 9:30 and moved the machine from his trailer to my pickup truck. Here we are in my driveway - I had it securely strapped so that it would not move.

Gary from Indianapolis and Jeff (Jeb) from Ohio, arrived in Peoria Saturday afternoon. They came by the house last evening and we started to take a look at the Thor. It sat in my basement all week waiting for us to start working on it.

Hi Mike and guests

What fun the Thor will be--can't wait to see how it washes dishes! That machine must be a comlete blast.

What is you Youtube name so I can see your movies? Didn't know about them. Thanks and have fun at the wash-in.

probably all running like mad right now, and the dishwashers too! wish i was there to enjoy it all!

that thor is really amazing! please do a complete post on it, showing every little detail and how it operates!

Wow Mike what a fantastic machine! Do you know any of its history to share with us. It seems to be in amazing condition!! Sure wish I could have been there for all the fun!! Thanks so much for sharing.

Sorry I couldn't make it.

That Sink dishwasher looks in great condition, as does everything else there.

Post Wash-Party Update

With apologies in the slowness of adding this update....I started having computer problems Sunday morning, not being able to get to the internet, nor perform other functions with the computer. Now the laptop is at Best Buy Geek Squad and needs to be rebuilt I am told. Sigh!

This Wash Party was really fun. In all, there were 11 of us gathered here at my house. We watched and demonstrated 21 on the machines in my collection. But it is really the people that make something like this successful. We laughed, ate, washed clothes in 8 washers, ran/watched 12 dishwashers, attempted some THOR repairs, read through appliance material - we just had an all-around great time.

Not only do we get to know each other a little more, but these get-togethers can really be more like mini-seminars. We all can likely say we learned something new this past weekend (I certainly did), or we saw something we had never seen before.

There were some successes, a couple of failures, and some water leaking on the floor.

Pictured below (left to right): Gary (gmpayne), Gary (abcomatic), Mike (dishwashercrazy), Jeff (jeb), Jim (a friend of Todd), Stephen (a friend of Todd and is eurekaboy on Vacuumland), Dave (volvoguy87), and Todd (varicyclevoice). Not pictured is Jay (sensi-temp), Aaron (awooff) and Aaron's guest Craig.
