similar thing happened to me not long ago -
I did up a Bendix FL, 1996 model. (25th anniversary of Bendix Australia 1971 - 1996 is stencilled on the controls panel.)
Gave it to my next door neighbour, she keeps it in her shed for washing dog blankets, etc. She went away for a week, I came over each day to walk and feed her dogs. I noticed a couple of dog blankets next to the Bendix so as a favour I put them in the washer and put it on, returned the next day it was still washing! Motor sounded a bit laboured, (brushes a touch noisy) otherwise OK. I had forgotten on this machine the heater didn't work, you have to set it past a certain point on the dial or it gets to the heat position and advances no further. I have now bypassed the thermostat so it doesn't get stuck...
Being a front loader, the blankets were completely unharmed, and very very clean.
