Washing machine bearing puller 1979s washer

Does anyone know if this is the correct bearing puller / installation tool for the old belt drive whirlpools? i can not find any pictures of this part number

No it’s not. The original puller was built by the Robinair company and the part number was 14510.

14857 was the part number for the installation tool also by Robinair. Most find it’s easier to beat the bearings out with a long piece of solid round metal such as an old gearcase shaft that is no longer acceptable for use in the machine. The installation tool is quite handy for the installation of the new bearings and seals, however.

yes however i have been unsuccessful in finding either of those tools. I also don't actually have a spare agitator shaft to use as a post to beat it out. i would have to condemn a machine that can be restored to acquire one.

Can an agitator shaft be purchased separately from the transmission?

The only way you’d probably be able to find them is if there is an appliance shop that has been in business for many years and may still have them laying around. An agitator shaft is an example. Any solid piece of metal about 2 foot long would do the trick.
