I have been looking at a consumer website called productreview.com.au and took a look at consumer views on different washing machines it seems a particular Maytag model the PAV3300AGW,(which looks like one of the Performa models to me could be wrong though),took a real pasting from buyers in fact of 33 reviewers,26 gave it the thumbs down in spades with just 7 in favour of it.
It seems the biggest problem with it is linting and the seeming failure of the automatic lint removal system to work, although I wonder if these people left tissues or other paper in the pockets?.
Some of the L.G. top loaders got really good reviews in particular a couple of the larger models funny though a few of the mid-size models were hammered, the new Fisher and Paykel Aquasmart got a roasting.
Haier seemed to rate fairly well with the twintub and the 9kg direct drive and the 6kg top loader getting 5 stars from reviewers,(a confession I wrote 1 of the reviews for the twintub.)Simpson had mixed responses with some happy and some unhappy consumers which I guess would be the norm,Westinghouse copped it from a couple of people(interesting when you consider it is just another Simpson anyway).
Amazingly enough there was even a review for an Amana model ,I do not even know where one would buy an Amana wasahing machine from in Australia.
However the overriding factor here is I believe this is only a very small sample of consumers indeed as most of the machines only had a handful of people commenting on them apart from that Maytag which had 33.
If anyone is interested to have a look the website is www.productreview.com.au
I will have a look at front loaders tomorrow and see what they come up with.
Cheers folks.
Steve.
