Finally I got my camera going again so am now once again able to inundate you with photos.
This is the WaterMatic I found a couple of weeks ago with its box of shiny tools. Only parts missing were the wands but I believe they're friction fit wands and easy to replace. There are no marks whatsoever on the canister itself. The braided hose does have some tape close to the end which I haven't removed yet otherwise the hose appears brand new as well.
Love the color of this thing, I've no idea how old it is, maybe 60's or early 70's. Everything is metal and the attachments are mirror-like chrome
 
SUPER!!that is a really attractive vacuum-if they looked as beautiful as that one-folks would not have to put them away!The attachments are completely diffrent than the ones I have.I have a WM1 and a WM3.The WM3 is black,the WM1 is brown white.It also matched your furniture perfectly!I wonder if the wands were chromed steel ?
 
Neat wooden shoes on the tools-yes would not use those for wet pickup. Sounds like that particular model was not designed for wet pickup-or had a squeegie tool that is missing.I would keep those tools for display and try to get "generic" ones to use.
 
That is the squeege tool with the rubber strip running down the center..It also came with the float and the float attachment. I think the instructions say that when you're done picking up wet stuff youu insert the end of the hose into the exhaust port while the other end is still attached to the inport that way you dry the hose out quickly. Any idea of how old it is? Model is D 145
There's also another floor attachment seen there topside only that has a felt pad insert.
 
Petek: I have no idea how old your WM machine is-yours is completely diffirent than the US ones-esp the tools.I looked at the picture of the tools again-sure enough the squeegie tool has a wood floor shoe! incredible-wonder if the wood has some sort of waterproof finish.Yes-I have seen the same instructions on drying out hoses-think Rainbow had the same idea as well when you used one for wet pickups.I would be concerned about trying to use the braid hose for wet pickups.The canister itself looks very much like US ones-but the tools are completely different-Both of mine also had carpet powernozzles.Does yours have a connector on the cansiter for a powernozzle-that may one way to tell how old it is.

and I agree the lamp too is awesome. I love table lamps, reading by a very plain but well loved one from circa 1968.
 
No Power nozzle and no power nozzle plug in on the canister either. The wood appears to be highly varnished, still I wouldn't think of ever using them for wet pickups, especially a braided cloth hose.

Kevin/Dan; I picked up that lamp just a few days ago, same thrift store I got the sectional and the lovely oil painting above it..Also got another table lamp just off to the left out of the picture, quite nice.. I"ll picture it..
It's all part of my "decorating for less than $100). I plan to have the whole room done for about that much. Not including the vacs LOL. However I was thinking I just might advertise the rooms furnishing as a complete set once I'm done, price it fairly high and just see what happens. Trouble is it's growing on me..LOL If I do that, I will include a Kirby to go with the furnishings.
 
Pete, very nice!! One of the early W/D vacs indeed! Next time I see one on eBay...

All this time, I thought the Watermatic was a variation of the Rexair/Rainbow machines!
 
Austin, I thought the same thing as well up until the point I got it home and read the insrx booklet..
Mystery machines to me these are having never heard of them before.
It has that nice old vacuum motor sound too, just a low hum and the sound of the air is all.
Note the on/off button is on the top of the canister by the rim...press on/off, even that's chrome..
Acch I just noticed I left dirt in there..oh well.. and the cord looks a bit schmutzy but I think that's more the camera and lighting
 
Here's the Eureka canister

My $20 find at the flea market two weeks ago...looks nice now that I cleaned it up. This is the one with the Roto Matic Edge Kleener..that has no edge cleaner..I looked everywhere for it, taking it apart and it's just not there.
I advertized this in the classifieds and just got my first call tonite..I wasn't prepared and told them it was already sold, I'm not sure if I should keep it or not, it's not really a great vacuum but it's solid, nice burgandy color as well.
 
Rug Attachment

The rug attachment is the same as the Fair Fax except for one difference. The WM has a separate curved wand, whereas the Fair Fax had an attached swivel elbow, as well as some other brands. You would have found these rug attachments on much older Regina-built vacuum cleaners like Regina and Viking.

This machine was made by Switson Industries in Ontario and from what I can find they manufactured for Regina, Eatons Viking, even Kirby, probably some others as well.
Any idea the age?
