Westinghouse frost free refrigerator $350 (Salisbury, NC)

I am in North Carolina for the week, so I am checking out some antique places while I'm here. This refrigerator is in a local antique mall. According to the person at the counter "it needs Freon" .

Well, it's good that you ran into someone behind the counter, who doubles as a repair technician. I'm thinking that's pretty rare these day. Top notch diagnosis of a non working refrigerator. "Just needs Freon".   Brilliant!

What a beautiful vintage Westinghouse fridge! To find one with such a pristine interior is a rarity. Trying to get some of the vintage fridges I've seen restored to this condition would be difficult. Now if a freon charge would really get up and running it may be a good deal.

All it needs is freon is typically useless considering the slob-arse interiors most of these old refrigerators "gleam". True, some are not too bad to clean up but with one this beautiful, you'd think someone would easily believe in freon will save the day.

Yes, it looked to be in remarkable condition, but I was skeptical of the "just needs freon" claim, too. Even if that was all it truly needed, I'm not aware of anyone here (back home in Florida) who deals in freon. One of our older cars had not been converted to the newer R14 so we called around to several shops to see if anyone still had some and they didn't.
