Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Mine was kind of a forced gift to me!

My Buick Park Avenue was giving me more trouble than I wanted to invest in. I got a call from someone who wanted to sell Chuck and I a typewriter collection. When I went to see what he had in his climate controlled/carpeted garage, I saw this Mercedes proudly sitting there. The gentleman told me that he was selling off a bit of his belongings, as he was nearing 80yrs old, and that the Mercedes was probably going to go!

Long story short...we negotiated, the Buick is retired and I now have one of my dream cars! I have always loved this model and color combo!

Excuse the filthy driver side mat. We just had a snow storm and it got very messy :-)

Why Veg, I'm glad you asked!

It has three settings AND a headlight!!!

I love this little vac, although one of the vacuum guys I go to told me there was no way to get bags. I'll have to try the other one and see what he says.

Bags are no longer available for those Sunbeam vacuums other than the occasional ones that may pop up on Ebay. One of the vac club members recently sold the blue model along with a few bags he had been saving. Otherwise he was trying to fashion a bag to fit from another style bag, that might be the only hope. There was also something else about those in the way they are constructed iirc that the dirty air passes right over the motor first. Anyways I'd be careful and not really use it. I don't know if that thread is archived on VCCC or not if I find it I'll bring it back.

I think Tania, in Milwaukee, in the Vacuum Club has bags for those, if I recall correctly...

She may be worth getting in touch with!

Hi Kevin

Thanks!! I do love it :-) It is an 88 with only 103K on it. I have a friend, who collects MB, look it over(he took 3hrs including the test drive) and his reaction was that it was nearly new. The engine oil is still clear.

The windshield happened about a week after I got it. I was driving in a snowstorm and a truck in front kicked a stone into the windshield. It was fully covered by my insurance and is now replaced. I took the pictures last week!

Rich, that is one helluva Christmas present. I'm pea-green with envy. May you have many care-free hours of driving in your "baby".

Thanks, Polk & Frig

Polk, shouldn't you be Avacado green??? This IS a vintage appliance site :-)

As I said before ...this was more of a forced thing. I had to get another car and this one was available and for a hell of a good price!!!

I am realy happy with it and enjoy driving it very much. I got to see how it handled in a snow situation. A pick-up truck did a 180 while trying to pull out from a side road. I didn't brake when I saw him first pull out as I figured a pick-up wouldn't spin out. When I saw him now facing me I figured that we were going to have a nasty head-on collision. I hit my brakes, gently, and the Benz NEVER once slid or fishtailed. It handled as though it were on dry roads!

I am assuming that it was either the ABS system that saved me or maybe it was the wreath in the grill that acted like a good luck charm :-))

BTW...this near accident just happened about a half hour ago.

catching up

Rich thats a beautiful Mercedes, congrats on that!

Also glad to hear you're safe too. We've had some ugly weather in Chicago the past couple of days, including 6 inches of snow last night and this morning. I can't wait for winter to be over!

I got a new GE Sensor microwave oven.
New Epicurian cutting board
10 piece Calphalon stainless steel cookware
10" TFal non-stick skillet
500GB Western Digital backup hard drive
Norelco SpeedXL 8 series razor
assortment of dress shirts, slacks and ties.
New car battery for the winter (good call too, it's 2F in Dekalb, IL)

Thanks, Bob and Jeff for your concern

I am glad to see that the car performed much better than expected. Not a skidmark to be found...except perhaps in my shorts. It was very close :-)

johnb300m, looks like you got some very useful gifts!

Looks like everyone got themselves some very nifty gifts!! I particularly love the turquoise GE electric kitchen!!!
