What To Got For, Hoover or Zanussi-Electrolux??

Hiya, im going to be getting a new washer soon to replace the dredfull samsung washer (long story lol). i am very fond of Hoover washers and also Zanssi-Electrolux ones, and im now unsure of what to go for lol

Any Comments Appriciated!!

i do agree with John that Zanussi is a better choice.i have owned both before. Zanussi (iz16) i had was much more refined machine with betteer performance than Candy activa smart 16 which is the sane as Hoover. The bad thing about my Zanussi was that the bearings had gone in 2 and a half years.They are a bit fragile with bearings especially if u overlaod them. Hoover however is better with bearings but electronic timers go,pumps and motors.I had to change the timer on the Candy 2 times and (it was pausing not doing anything) and the pump. once. The timer was french made by cruset and the pump italian.
The motor was italisn as well.

What happened to your sumsung?

thanx for ur replies!!, well woth the samsung, i liked it at the beggining, but then i slowly started to dislike it as it became very problematic! not to mention about the ULTRA sensitive out of balance sensor! firstly the drum stopped turning and it ended up needing a brand new PCB (after 7months of average use), then a new pump got fitted. and now a lifter has broken and we are waiting for a new one to be replaced. In addition to this, id warn everyone off buying samsung washing machines at all costs!!!

and there are some great deals on John Lewis machines too which are rebadged Zanussi. The 8kg Insight is on for £499 witha free 3year gurantee, for example.

John Lewis seem good!

they seem to have a few more programmes (sure I will be corrected if I am wrong!!!) and the Electrolux nsight range look fab too!
I really fancy one of their insight DWs with the window at the front!!!!

The only thing I don't like about the John Lewis washers is that there is no 50*C cycle - a must for me. However otherwise they are good machines - but IMO for the similar price range the branded Zanussi's seem to be more flexible.

yeah ive never had a 50c option lol, so for my next washer i must have it, it seems incredibly handy!!! i think ill go for a Zanuusi-Electrolux

I am just reading WHICH as I am helping to source a new washer and dryer for my Mum. They are totally scathing about Hoover. They quote that "...just under a quarter of Hoover owners would definitely recommend their machine" They go on to say that "Owners of Hotpoint, Indesit, Whirlpool, Servis, Candy and Zanussi/Electrolux machines weren't impressed by their purchases either".

I have trawled the Internet and have found a Bosch WAA28160-W from Bennetts for £239.00 That has to be a better bet doesn't it?

hiya, Well to be honest i wouldnt reccomend a Bosch washing machine after the experience i had with my old one, (Bosch maxx wfl2260), havin said that the new ones look very nice, hopefully they've made them use more water for rinsing. good luck if you get one anyway.

IMHO
with todays programming and wash times AND the fact that AEG, Zanussi and John Lewis are all the same make (give or take a feww differences) I have not missed a 50 degree wash since having my AEG. You can get just as good results without it.
Like I said.... y opinion! ( before my life with AEG, I was an avid fan of 50!!!!!

I am back in the US for the summer, was talking to our neighbour this afternoon. She bought a Bosch after visiting me in Munich last year.
So far it has been repaired twice. First time, the parts took six weeks; second time I sent her the pump from Munich; took 8 days and she installed it herself.
The UK is not the US, but I would not buy a Bosch anything outside of Germany unless I had a reliable dealer with a good parts inventory right around the corner.
Miele seems to be a bit better at stocking parts from what I have been told...
As far as the Hoover, Candy, Indescit, etc. discussion goes, there have been some great threads on all of that in the last months. If I remember rightly, just about everyone had something bad to say about Hoover...

Hoover back in the old days were the British equivalent of Miele before we went European (IMO) I always remember my Aunty Mary havnig a hoover of FL of some type all through my childhood. She swore by them! But if the Candy condenser dryer that was returned after 3 months was anything to go by, then they have gone to the dogs!

What happened to the Welsh factory in Merthyr? Where are the hoover washers and dryers manufactured nowadays? Mark, (hoover3060) can you tell me? Hope youre both well....

i own a hoover logic 1300 and it would without a doubt wipe the floor with most modern machines. it dishearts me to see my favourite brand tarnished the way it has....

i believe the current range are designed in italy an merely assembled here...quite obviously with mimimal effort. though saying that..while living with my ex g.f we had a comet version of the hoover six 1600 which i was impressed with, and then replaced it with a hoover nextra 7.5kg 1400 which too was very good. they must've been made mid week when people were happy knowing it was nearly the weekend! lol.

I agree - Hoover were the last word in washing machines for years as far as I am concerned - everything else was a compromise. Now, as much as I like some of the new large capacity machines they are producing it is too risky to fork out the money on a lemon
