Tom,
My mom and dad still have this exact Coldspot fridge in their garage. It works 100% and is so quiet! Not sure how energy efficient it is. It is still keeping everything 100% cold.
She would not trade it for anything because of the fact that she bought it so many years ago. She loves talking about it when I bring it up because of the age of the Fridge.
Thanks for posting the picture. The model looks a little like Roberta Peters.

Did not know Ward's had a line of electronics. We didn't get a Montgomery-Ward until the late 70's and that was 30 minutes from hear, but listening to y'all talk about the stuff y'all all had, Ward's obviously was a big competitor with Sears which of course had all their own house brands. Don't know how many of you were following the discussion about Sears laundry detergent, but wonder if Ward's had a house brand laundry detergent. Does anyone know?

MW detergent

Yes they had a detergent also almost like Sears. Used it (MW detergent) for a couple of boxes but saw our whites turning grey or yellowing. Went tothe Sears and all that turned out white. This was in the late 60's.

And of course the inevitable "Sears has everything!"

Homart was also used on Sears pool equipment too.

My parents had a 66' Coldspot refrigerator. My Mom used to brag about how reliable it was.

Funny thing, when I was in high school they opened a Sears nearby. A bunch of us friends applied to Sears for part time jobs. Everyone got hired but me. It really ticked me off. So I boycotted Sears for many, many years. I wouldn't even step foot in a Sears store. One year my mother bought me a plaid shirt for Christmas. It had a Sears lablel on it. I refused to wear it. I just got so used to not going into Sears I forgot that I was boycotting them and just second nature kept me out of their stores. But about 10 years ago I bought some Craftsman tools. And I am happy with them. But I just feel that on a lot of things Sears sells, I can buy better elsewhere.
So you can imagine my horror when we bought this house and it had all Kenmore appliances! But they all broke down ove an 7 year period and are now all gone.

Retromania: yep, I'm in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Hope to host a wash-in soon to show off this gorgeous part of the world, but am a bit embarrassed of my small collection of Norge, Wards, Whirlpool and Kenmores. Hope to add a GE Filter-Flo and a Frigidaire this year and then will send out the invite.

Sears Brands

Good, Better, Best lines!

Allstate (didn't they own the insurance company, as well as they sold Allstate (Kaiser Henry J) cars in the early 50s)

And Maid O'Matic stoves!
