Plasti-dip? Was thinking of stripping all the old vinyl coating off and sanding the rust. Plasti dip has a create your own color kit that can be sprayed on once thinned with naptha. Any ideas? As always, thanks!!---Tom

ReRACK

I bought a product called ReRACK as my rack had rust spots under the cutlery baskets. It comes in a small bottle and you brush it on like you would appliance touch up paint. I did my rack about a year ago and it has held up fine. You can buy it at Ace Hardware or off the internet.

i used a rack touch up that i get from like parts select or any other appliance parts supply. it stinks but it works and you just apply it like touch up paint. well real thick sticky touch up paint. but it works

Re-Rack and Maytag

I have seen Re-Rack at my favorite ACE. It comes in white or grey, but not aqua. I needed some touch-up for aqua racks and after checking with a lot of appliance parts places, I found a funky shop that had some. It's Maytag brand, it worked well, but is much more blue and doesn't match the rack color at all. Fortunately, the worst rust spots are on the underside of the rack. The stuff is not cheap. It was around $18 for a small bottle (a plastic bag of new tips for the tines was also included), but a little goes a long way. It appears to be holding up fine though, even when subjected to the "Heavy Steam" cycle on my Thermador.

Unless your racks are totally rusted, this plastisol touch-up route would be the quickest and easiest.

got the same problem

How about a common vinilic paint? I think it's too hard to find RE-RACK here in Europe neither to make it come from US.

Overthere you use to rebuild more than here...

Maytag touch up for racks

I bought a bottle of the Maytag touch up for racks. I prepped them VERY well, applied the product, and let it set for a week. It came off in the FIRST wash!! I don't know if I got a bad bottle or what. I bought the Plasti-dip brand made for dishwasher racks (it comes in a tube) at Lowe's and it has lasted for five or more years!
