Where to find ARIEL HE?

Well, I found some ARIEL, per Mich's suggestion, which was exciting to find! However, my only concern is that because it's not labeled as HE, and since I have a new front loader, wouldn't I be taking a risk on using it? We know the rule about not using an non-HE detergent in one of these washers. Also, Mich, where do you find the Ariel Espuma Baja? I can assure you I WON'T buy it all out....it takes me a long while to use detergent !

I have looked everywhere...on-line, big chain stores, small regional stores, independent stores and Ariel Baja espuma cannot be found. I'm convinced it is no longer available.

The Stuff..

You saw at Ollies was either one of the two formulations, I've seen there.

One is the Bagged, Ariel USA. This is actually, a old Non-HE Tide with Bleach (not the new compacted powder, but old 1x concentrated) powder, and is very high sudsing. This stuff is good, if you have a old Top Loader lying around... But keep it away from your front loader.

The other Formula, I've seen is "Ariel Color & Style". I won't lie to you, this stuff doesn't have a HE logo on it. However, it's one of P&G's Compacted Powders (very similar to the Tide HE powder) and it has lots of Oxygen Bleach (but it doesn't contain OB's to fade clothes). This is a very low sudsing/froth formula, because of the Silicone that's been added into it. (You'll notice quickly, that suds will start to break down)

(On a side note.. Many People south of the boarder, don't like Front Loaders, and exclusively wash there clothes in Top Loading machines, or Hand Wash them. As such, they like there suds, and froth, and if they don't see it, they don't like it.) So, as one can guess, this Powder turned up at Ollie's fairly quickly.

There's also Ariel Power Pods. You should just skip these. There re-branded Tide Pods, and very expensive.

Here we have Ariel Ecomax powder, Ariel with a touch of Downy liquid.

Both of them are low suds (the liquid is no suds at all)

But what I really miss is Skip liquid from Argentina, sold until early 2000's. It was a white liquid. That was simply the best detergent i've ever used.

...keep in mind that detergents are formulated to give the best results in the Country where they are supposed to be sold. So water tipe, water hardness and other local facts are taken into account by the producer.

The number of loads that are indicated on the box or bottle can't be taken seriously if you use a detergent from an far away Country.

I have tried many detergents from different parts of the world and plenty of american detergents, but the doses are far far too litle for the use in my circumstances. With an 120 loads box of american Surf I can do less than 60 light soiled loads, even if it is not a HE formulation. Or with an 32 load box of whatever high sudsing brand less than 15 loads.

The opposite may happen to an american user perhaps. The doses can be too high in their circumstances.

Using foreign detergents takes some experimentations to achieve a comparable result and many times also disappointments.
So many times one ends up to go back to local detergents which delivers impeccable results without guessing and praying before opening the washer

The biggest difference is labeling legislation.

Some places will allow you to base the calculation on a tiny load that just needs light refreshing and is washed in ideal conditions with totally soft water.

Others may require it to based on a normal cottons cycle, fully loaded and normally soiled.

European labeling tends to have to comply with extremly strict laws about what you can claim on packaging or in advertising.

If you make ridiculous claims, your competitors might check them and make complaints.

Also, I've made enquiries and it would seem Ariel is the same formula in all EU markets. They're not country-specific products. Ariel in the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Spain etc isn't even a country specific box anymore.

All of these manufacturers use economies of scale and don't localise where possible within the EU market.

In the few places where Tide is sold in Europe ...it's Ariel formula same with Dash in Belgium and Italy.

The only change maybe the perfume in some of those minor brands.

Ariel outside the EU may be an entirely different product.

Same with Skip, Omo, Dash etc etc

All EU detergents (unless marked for hand washing or some special purpose) are low gfoaming / no foaming and suitable for front loaders and low water content top loaders. However, I wouldn't add any Euro powder, undissolved to a HE top loader that doesn't have a disperser drawer to mix the powder with water. They can stain or bleach clothes if not properly dissolved and left in contact with fabrics for a long time.

Who told you this????
Actually, the eastern european Tide i could use was more similar in composition, scent, and performances to the british Daz, even though Daz is more concentrated, but really Tide had nothing in common with Ariel.
Also, Ariel is not the exact same product as italian Dash, the smell of Ariel is different, even though being same formula...
