Which FL do I buy???

I trust the opinions on here way more than any review site, so I'm coming to you with this question. Which FL, stackable set would you purchase? Here's my situation:

I am moving into a small, 1950s ranch home. The W/D hookups are in the kitchen. No closet, totally open. It is a very small area, so I need a stackable set to save floor space. I am buying something this weekend due to Memorial Day sales. I need to stay under $1800 for the pair.

It is just me and my 12 year old daughter in the home, plus 3 pets. I wash large comforters frequently due to pet hair/smells. Definitely want a washer with a heater and one that rinses well. I'm also not ruling out compact washer dryer sets, like the Electrolux or Samsung or Bosch (can't afford Miele), but I also prefer a dryer that is vented.

Check out Whirlpool WFW5620. Has a 4.5 cu.ft. capacity tub and a heater and is also closet depth so won't jut out as far. They can hold a ton of clothes and large comforters are no problem for these machines.

LG 3900

Check out the LG 3900. It has a large capacity, can process loads in 30-40 minutes, rinses well and is quiet. LG washers have proven to be very reliable and easy to fix.

I recommend he lg with turbowash. I have the Kenmore elite version of the same brand which has the same turbowash under the accelawash name. It uses plenty of water without filling the tub full. It cleans just about anything I throw at it. My machine has the recirculation pump which is very effective and rinses exceptionally well. Both my mom and dad have front loaders made by lg electronics, which my dad's is under the sears brandname in the upscale segment. At first, I thought I was going to miss seeing a tub full of water. now, I realize that there's plenty of water to go around due to the tumbling action and constant recirculation and plenty of freshwater rinsing. You can hear water splashing and spraying all about inside the machine. the sprays, both the recirculation and rinse jets are so powerful that you can literally hear water hit the back of the drum at the hub. When you open the door just after the rinse jet turns off, you can see water dripping from the top of the door where the jet is.

Also, you can stack the lg's on top of each other. washer on the bottom and dryer on top.

Another vote for LG. The 3900 is currently the top-rated washer by a leading consumer testing company. Depending on what sort of discounts you can find, this pair may exceed your $1800 cap a bit.

The 3700 is less expensive than the 3900, but has an internal water heater, Sanitary and Steam Allergience cycles. The washer and its companion dryer should come in under $1800.

The 3500 is a couple of hundred less than even the 3700, but does not have an internal water heater. Unless your washer is located next to the water heater, I’d suggest getting a machine with an internal heater.

Have steered several friends to LGs, all of whom are very happy with them.

Neighbors in the apartment just behind mine recently purchased a Whirlpool pair similar to the one shown in Reply #1. Theirs is model 6620, which has an internal water heater and an auto-dosing bulk detergent dispenser. So far, they like it a lot.

The testing company referenced above shows washers made by LG are somewhat more reliable than those built by Whirlpool and have better customer satisfaction, as well.[this post was last edited: 5/18/2020-18:44]

I just bought the LG WM3700 which has steam cycles, sanitize, extra hot, etc etc.. It's only been about 2 weeks but so far I like it a lot.. Very quiet, 1300 rpm spin cycle, a quick wash cycle that only takes 15 minutes is handy when you need something washed right away. Wifi compatible which may be of interest or not.. Alerts you when its done, you can start and pause it , plus there's some extra hidden cycles available only through the phone app to download instantly to the washer. some are hoakey though.. I'll give it an A+. so long as it doesn't break down LOL.

One suggestion: make sure the door swing on the washer is compatible with the spot you're going to put it. Most FL washers (like LG) have doors that are hinged on the left, and thus are may be more convenient to use if their placement isn't against a wall to their right so you are not caught between the wall and a partially open door. There are some machines, like Electrolux and GE, that have doors with hinges that can be on left or right. Most dryers can go either way.

Question for all of you recommending LGs: There aren’t many LG repair services available in my area. Shouldn’t this be something that I consider?

Yes, that's a big consideration.  Service availability and that's why I choose products from the Whirlpool family.  I live in a medium sized town.

Nashville is a big city, it's likely you'll have no issues getting service. If there happen to be any issues under warranty, LG will send their own repair people out.

If service is really a concern, buy the set from Costco using a Costco Citi Visa card and you'll get an automatic four year warranty.

BTW, I forget to mention the LG 3900 is assembled in the USA.

Good choice! Those of us who recommended LG are now sweating bullets hoping your next post isn’t, “You freaking a**holes! I hate these pieces of crap!!”

this or the 3900 (if I had to buy a FL washer right now) would MOST likely be my choice. Nothing against Whirlpool, I just like the turbo wash and the LG's wash action and more water compared to Whirlpool FL's I've seen. I've still heard very good things about the Whirlpool's though.

I'm going to get the 3900. What convinced me, other than the many replies here, were the YouTube videos by the Lorain Furniture and appliance guy. He seems incredibly trustworthy.

I would consider a new Miele

I just recently replaced my Miele washer with a new one. It is great! This machine is the classic model. It has everything you require.
