Whirlpool dryer find today. How old is it?

I went (for the first time)to the local Habitat For Humanity resale shop by me today, and found an Avocado Green Whirlpool gas dryer in their trash pile! It was complete and will make a twin for my Imperial Mark XII for now.
My guess on the date is 1978? The model number is LFI5701DO.
How do I figure out the manufacture year from the model number?
There were more machines sitting outside including another Whirlpool washer in Almond. I just can't save them all though...
I went inside and gave a 5.00 donation for it and left my phone number in case they get any oldies in the future.

Someone said in another thread that you can find the month and year made, is this by the serial number? If so, how?

Very cool Dryer, and in Gas no less.

My mom had an 1979 Imperial 70 LFI7801....

and that conntrol panel looks just like the one on my moms dryer except it had 5 heat selections and a chrome rectangular start switch.
