Help Support :

Nice, colorful load there, Jeff. Perfect for videotaping!

Does anyone else find the reverse-tumble annoying? Just when I'm getting into the rhythm, the darn thing stops!

Whirlpool Duet

Thanks Jeff for posting. Is this newest Duet model? I hope that you and Cal are doing well. I still have the LG combo. I like the machine but the service issues are questionable. Do you find in your area it is hard to have service and get parts for the LG?
Best Wishes
Peter

How many afternoons...

You indeed can't imagine how many afternoons I spent in front of a reality-show like that when I was two-three years old.

It's a constant part of my life, I enjoy either with the spoon whirlpooling in the coffe cup! LOL!

THANK YOU! Every video of washing action remember me when I was young, as now with a EuroTL is not so easy to look at the agitation, but if I were in "astinence", there alwasy is my old 1981 Sangiogrio FL... I care it more than my mother!

Direct Injection Wash?

Great Video. Is this one of the newer models with the coveted "Direct Inject" wash system? If so, can you tell us more about it? Provide a video of DIWS in action?

Thanks for Posting!

Very cool video Jeff, thanks for posting!!! I want one!

One question though: In any of these new HE washers, can the of the pressure switches be adjusted to increase the water level? I know about the Frigemore trick, but can it be done with these?

Wel compared to my frontloader the drum turns very slow, but in time its quit good. The best time is 10 sec left, 2 sec pause and 10 sec right. So it matches the professional norms!! With a faster turning drum, maybe the load would not be so tangled. But I think after spinning, the load is fluffy and untangled.

The Duet in the video is the one I have had since 2002. The rinse water level is the same as wash level. I always use the "Whitest whites" cycle as it gives 4 rinses and an 800 RPM spin after the wash and between the rinses. This model does have the "Direct Inject" wash system, at the start of wash it dumps the detergent directly onto the clothes, then the fill pauses for a short time while the concentrated detergent mixes with the chothes. I think the water level controll could be adjusted to a higher level, but I have not tried. The controll has 3 level settings and as I remember it has 6 unlabeled adjustment screws! The Delicate cycle does give a higher water level, so you can fill on delicate and switch cycle, but you will only get the higher wash level.

your duet

Hi, Jeff. I too bought a WP Duet last Nov. and I totally love it. It looks like you too removed that damn plastic cover over the door. What's the point with that thing. On my whitest whites cycle I get 5 rinses unless I choose the extra rinse, then I get 6. Why is that???.....Bill in Az.....

Great Video.

I got My HE3 in 2003. I feel ripped off now. On my "Whites Whites", I get only 3 rinses and it automatically selects the extra rinse for me. I guess what a difference 1 yrs makes. But, I still love mine.

Now thats a nice video clip, that. Nice colours and all

May i ask if you could put up a spin clip of the machine?

I love to see spin clips. Have you seen mine videos?

Hope you enjoy them as well. Ok, maybe not the suds videos but the others are cool, right?

Cool video, Jeff. Much better views without that pesky plastic cover on the door. What are your opinions on this machine after a few years using it? Improvements, additions, etc. you would make?

My 5/04 WP Duet set has an extra rinse button that will increase rinses from 2 (default) to 3 on all washing programs, Whitest Whites program defaults an extra rinse automatically. I didn't know there were other configurations on previous or later models...

Only 3 rinses

After checking my Duet, I must make a correction, it does only have 3 rinses. Somehow I had in my mind that it had one more rinse then my Gibson (Frigimore) washer. I think it was because the Gibson has 1 spray rinse and 2 deep rinses, and the Duet has 3 deep rinses (or should I say shallow rinses).

What I really like about the Duet is the 800 RPM spin right after the wash, this can be done due to the design of the water level controll that can sense suds between the tubs during spin. As far as I know only Whirlpool has this feature.

I realy like the way my Duet washes and rinses and have had no trouble with it yet. At this time I have only repaired 2 Duet/HE3t's for my customers, both had things in the drain pump, a common problem with front loaders.

The only change I can think of would be to add "Roto-Spray" like the Whirlpool combos had. It would help get rid of "dry wash look" I have thought of a way of adding an extra circulating pump to mine, but have not done it yet. Jeff

Whirlpool vs LG

Hi Jeff,
How do you compare the performance of the Whirlpool to the LG even with the spray in the LG. Im surprised Whirlpool doesn't have the spray as of yet. Also I was wondering if you repair the LG's? In your area is it difficult to get service for the LG like it is here in NY? I had also heard LG does not let anyone stock parts is that true that you know of? I recently had a door leak last month on my combo and it took 9 days to get service. So I'm not a happy camper even though I like my machine. I am hoping the service issues are going to change for the better.
Thanks,
Peter

Jeff, the Roto-Spray would be a good feature to have, I like the thought of even a tad bit more filtered water spraying onto the clothes as they are tumbling. I prefer to see the load "carrying" some water up and around as it's tumbling and you're right, the dry-washing look isn't very reassuring but, I've never had any problem with taking things out that weren't clean. I'm amazed at the abilities of this washer but have found that a good HE detergent is essential for good results. I don't do any special maitenance to keep the machine clean, a cycle with bleach now and then keeps it clean and sweet-smelling.

LG service

Peter, Sorry to hear about your problems getting good service on the LG combo. I have not had any calls to repair LG's yet, so can't give much information about service or parts problems. I like my LG combo a lot and think it cleans very well. So far no problems at all.

I can't belive how many people have mildew and odor problems with FL washers. After 4 years my Duet looks and smells like new. Too many people wash in cold water, never use bleach, and refuse to leave the door open after use.
