Whirlpool matching set in Coppertone!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Not exactly a Bryan Adam’s set!

But they were built very close to the “Summer of 69” 😬 Any help with this no spin issue would be great as I’ve never pulled a belt drive Whirlpool like this one apart before and I want to make sure I know what to look for in terms of what the problem might be.

WP BD not spinning

Hello Shannon

If the washer is agitating without issue and timer advancing, these are some things I would check to rule out simple things first if you haven't done so already.

Put it into spin on another cycle to confirm its not a timer issue.

Make sure the lid switch is operating correctly - it won't go into spin if it thinks the lid isn't closed. That machine probably has a mercury switch.

Check the wires to the solenoids on the wig wag to make sure they are connected and no breaks. Spin wire is usually red if I remember correctly but wiring diagram would confirm.

If the wires look connected correctly and no sign of being broken, I would probably try to run the machine with the service panel off if possible and watch the wig wag when its supposed to go into spin. Make sure the cam bar on the spin side is changing position correctly.

Those are the things I would check first but there are experts here that can probably provide better diagnostic ideas.

That is a beautiful washer!  I hope the no-spin issue is an easy fix.

I don't see the usual "bed of nails" or bristle type of removable lint catcher.  Did this model have a self-cleaning lint filter?
