Thanks Goatfarmer,

I will wait on it... This machine DOES look really good I have to admit..

Now in the thread several people mentioned thta this machine might have the self cleaning filter.... does it?

I got to say it is some what nice..

Hey I have a question,

Do the different Tub and Agitator Colors have any meaning? Why were some Tubs white with black agitators. Then some Machines had black tubs with White agitators. Do these different color combonations mean anything? Now I see this one with a white agitator with a black top....I saw another one like this as well.

Did whirpool use this to signify something or is these colors just random...

thanks..

That ain't a black cap....that puppy is Chrome.....and can be polished to shine like no other.....

Whirlpool mainly only had a few agitators, first the 3 straight vanes...then the Surgilator was introduced...first it was only available in black bakelite, certain models decided if it had just a nub cap, a full black plastic cap, or a chrome one...the last 2 had "surgilator" imprinted on them......

later on came the poly-plastics, first a bluish white, and then pure white, "Super Surgilator" with slightly more extension on the bottom part of the vanes.....as years and models went on, you either got a full white cap, or chrome...and of course "Super Surgilator" stamped on top....

the last one is the Double-Duty Surgilator...with extra wings at the bottom and heavier/thicker vanes all the way to the top...white cap included.....

others may correct me where I went wrong......

whoops! forgot something Yogi!

I forgot to explain how I got the source of water for the filter systems!
I was at work and kind of busy when typed the other stuff.... Sorry.

The original tub in the 56 Whirlpool was rusted out, so I got a 61 Kenmore with a broken transmission case from Kenny, and I used it for parts for the 56 WP.
The tub with the port, the suspention rods, (which were longer) and the filter sytem from the 61 Kenmore were used in the 56 Whirlpool. I also rebuilt the machine, and replaced all the seals and hoses with new.

I tapped into the tub for the water source for the green 56 Kenmore, then had the tub welded at a welding shop, and coated the welded area with POR-15. I added the port for that machine, as it did not have one. I found the filter and bracket NIB for the Kenmore at an appliance parts store.
I think it adds a lot of fun to have the waterfall filter, so it was worth the extra effort in my opinion. "If there's a will, there's a way" I always say. These are old washers, not Duesenbergs. If most of classic machines were not salvaged and repaired by some of the people in this club, they would have been scrapped years ago. There was a guy a few months ago that "hot rodded" an old blue Whirlpool with an oversize motor, ect. He was criticized by some for "ruining" the machine. Well, at least the dude did something with it, and obviously had fun doing it, and it was interesting to read about it, so thats great by me. I think thats what a hobby is all about, isn't it?

great job.....that waterfall is worth every cent....Niagra Falls has nothing on this....you have done a lot and it looks great...my heart goes to that filter....pure luxury....does it get any better than that?

we all tweek in our own way.....some may work, others may not, trial and error...if it makes us happy.....so be it....and we are thankful for those who do the "changes" for the upgrades, better performers, or pure enjoyment...and for sharing the ideas.....

I'll make sure I dig it out this weekend, I'm curious as to what it looks like under the hood, it's been a year or so since I've seen it.

Goatfarmer,
to be Honest I sort of like this three speed Machine as well It seems to have alot bells and whistels as much as the 66 that you took in the other post.

Does this Model indeed have the self or automatic Cleaning filter?

Can you get a couple of good photos of the back side with the motor tranny and all?

what do you want for this machine?

Saw another machine like this on here that had wood grain panneling on the front this was DOES NOT have that does it?

cool, I really like the old whirlpool topload washers :)
a friend here in germany had one of those american old 1980´s toploaders and it runs perfect!! I must see this washer

I would venture to say this one has the MagicClean filter....which version, hard to say...but its there..........

no manual filter is present inside the lid...........very few machines ever built did not have a filter one way or another....either self clean, or manual of some sort........

this could be a fun project of which manual filter to add, and how the water will be supplied........

one nice thing about this machine, is the dispensers......solenoid activated, and sucked down thru the pump and filter , diluted, before being introduced to the load.......

Ahhhh Goat man give an Ol boy in the dirty south a chance... LOL... either way I am excited about the 1966 model when you get more photos of.. Hint hint ;) Hey try and see if you can get a couple of shots of the motor and trany and all..
