whoops! forgot something Yogi!
I forgot to explain how I got the source of water for the filter systems!
I was at work and kind of busy when typed the other stuff.... Sorry.
The original tub in the 56 Whirlpool was rusted out, so I got a 61 Kenmore with a broken transmission case from Kenny, and I used it for parts for the 56 WP.
The tub with the port, the suspention rods, (which were longer) and the filter sytem from the 61 Kenmore were used in the 56 Whirlpool. I also rebuilt the machine, and replaced all the seals and hoses with new.
I tapped into the tub for the water source for the green 56 Kenmore, then had the tub welded at a welding shop, and coated the welded area with POR-15. I added the port for that machine, as it did not have one. I found the filter and bracket NIB for the Kenmore at an appliance parts store.
I think it adds a lot of fun to have the waterfall filter, so it was worth the extra effort in my opinion. "If there's a will, there's a way" I always say. These are old washers, not Duesenbergs. If most of classic machines were not salvaged and repaired by some of the people in this club, they would have been scrapped years ago. There was a guy a few months ago that "hot rodded" an old blue Whirlpool with an oversize motor, ect. He was criticized by some for "ruining" the machine. Well, at least the dude did something with it, and obviously had fun doing it, and it was interesting to read about it, so thats great by me. I think thats what a hobby is all about, isn't it?
