Does anyone know what the last year for Whirlpool Top-Loading portable dishwashers was? And is there any literature out there?

Very interesting to note you only have super wash, short wash or gentle wash to choose from, no "regular or normal" wash!
And WOW... a full width fluorescent console light??? Dang I gotta find me one of those!!!

Here's the 80, identical in styling & size to the machine in Dave's pic. Big Al, the gracious donor of this exquisite gift told me is was a 66. Always got a kick out of the regular cycle being called Super Wash, just like the washing machine. Someone there, at Whirlpool, must have loved the term and did want not to leave the dishwashers out.
Sweet scans, Dave. Will enjoy with lunch.

Wonderful Scans, Interesting Reading
These machines are so pretty and so powerful. Just finished a load. Never truly appreciated dishwashers till I Al gave me this one. It takes the broiler pan without a blink. Notice how high up in the tub it goes. No going back now. You're lucky to have the lighted model; Al has one, too. Must be so cool at night in a dark kitchen.

Double Wall WP Top Load DWs
These were not around all that long, great machines however,
STP models are 1969
SVP models are 1970
SWP models are 1971
I don't think that they made these after 1971.
Michael what is the model # of the one that you got from Alan ?

You never answered me re: a bed in the museum to explore till the wee hours, sleep, then wake to more exploration. I can fly again and travel after 4 years of being grounded.

I'd love to own one of these. I really like the idea of a portable dishwasher with a backsplash and hearing John describe these as "double-wall" leads me to believe they would be quieter machines than most. Whirlpools seem to be great cleaners.

Bay Jess ~ Dave has 2, Al & I each have one. The fact that they were made for only three years, thus rare, makes me feel lucky. I wonder if Diswashercrazy Mike has any or..........

The hope for you Ken is that since they were portables, there is always the good chance that they were pushed aside while alive and well for a built-in after a kitchen remodel or a move to a new home.
Post #6 has a nice cutaway view & short discussion of the double wall.
Model # 05077F943 That number 9 is so faint, even with a magnifier. It could be a 5. Not sure. Any trick to bringing it out. Lead pencil?
Found another way; it is a 9 for sure. Thank You, John. If I have a big party for Imperial 80, you'll be the guest of honor.

I'm not exactly sure what we are talking about with only made for three years. We have a WP top-loading portable from the early 60s with the round black Bakelite wash arm and the 2/3 width sliding top rack in the collection.

Know some of the reasons why top loading portable dishwashers were discontinued, but still think they make sense for some situations.
For instance because the thing opens upwards instead of out top loaders could be far more useful in certain tight situations.
Main problem one sees is having to design such things to either have a powerful enough spray from the bottom and or some sort of arm under the upper portion to get things clean. Spraying water down from the lid via whatever methods is fine and well to keep yibbles off the tops of things, but what about the insides of glassware, cups and so forth?
