Chinese manufacturer

Thought it was Midea, but turns out not. I don't know the name, but 100% they're made in China, and now a list: Gorenje, Indesit comp. 45cm, Candy/Hoover 45cm (+ 1 model 60cm), Bomann, GE, Elin, Midea, Zanussi/Electrolux 45cm (at least on Serbian market), Baumatic, Belling, Newworld, and many more small brands.

In the link is a video where you can see their baskets and interior (at some point) ;)

Lovely promotion video, indeed! "The baskets wobble"..."the fold-down shelves feel flimsy". Is that how they try to sell it? HAHA! But yes, these are crappy units. And to make matters worse, our particular models is programmed so that no cycle has an interim rinse. This is what the water looks like for the beginning of the final rinse. Crystal clear results are guaranteed - not. The only solution is to start a new 80 minutes Quick cycle after the main wash is done.

Fills a niche...

In remodeling a 60's ranch for resale, our contractor chose this GE model as it is a tad shorter than the norm...

Out of almost 100 models available at BrandsMart, this was the least expensive stainless that would fit in the existing cavity...

Otherwise, the countertops would have to be raised...

From the front, it looks like all the rest...

You don't see the difference until you open it...

Nrones: I can't second what you write, at least for the brands I'm sure about!

As you can see I have a dishwasher (Indesit DI623 made in 2006) that has the same interior. It is stamped in Poland in Lodz in a factory opened in 1999.

Once the current line gets "old" by western standards old assembly lines get sold to eastern countries that continue to produce virtually identical clones of old lines of appliances of european manufacturers. (See all those loads of American washer-dryers like the Splendide Combombomatic or Equator and so on, many are based on old Philco/Indesit/Antonio Merloni models not sold here in ten years! They simply relocated production lines.)

(sorry for the dirt but I was loading the dishwasher!)

Differences are the 2000W heating element (now concealed) and the salt cap for the built-in water softener plus the filter assembly is of the self-cleaning kind and the wash arm is bigger and has less holes!

Oh, I had forgotten!
A lot of Gorenje dishwasher come out of the SMEG Bonferraro factory here in Emilia Romagna
While most of the dishwashers from Baumatic are actually rebadged Antonio Merloni, also made in Italy (exception a few models made by Vestel of Turkey I've been told.)

ERRATA!

Bonferraro is NOT in Emilia Romagna :) I meant SMEG is but the actual factory is in the Verona province in Veneto (not so far).

Hey, three messages in a row... I promise I'm stopping :)

I believe it was my slimline Hotpoint dishwasher that the first post referred to (model number SDW80)

According to the sticker on the side of the door it says it is made in China so it would not surprise me if a lot of the machines coming from China use the same tub but it does the job for now

I see total commonality with my machine! :)
But on mine it says "made in Italy", of course being one of the biggest groups in the white goods industry I'm more than sure that Indesit Company dishwashers are produced in more than a few plants around the globe!

And as I said mine is made in Italy, I guess it's a question we'll never be able to totally put in light! :)

And don't forget Whirlpool

My sister has a slimline Whirlpool, made in China, and it is the spitting image of the Indesit slimline. Heater is hidden though.

Made in China/Made in EU

I would like to point out, that machines that have the label "Made in China" are completely assembled in China. "Made in EU" means the machines are assembled here in the EU (or USA or wherever you want) BUT the parts and everything that belongs to the machine still comes from China. It also can be that some machine types are pre-assembled in China and just get the "Finish" here in the EU, so that the manufacturer is allowed to put the slogan "Made in EU" on the machine.
