Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

"Works perfectly but needs a new timer" = turns on but the timer stops during cycle (probably due to no heating or clogged pump).

"Water leaks, was told by the repairman it's due to the timer" = I'm not a tech, the neighbor has tried to fix it but he isn't tech either.

"Fully restored, like new, works perfectly" = cleaned for the looks, everything got flooded in WD40...

"New timer fitted but cycle runs manually" = that wasn't the timer, the old one should work perfectly.

On car ads:
"New spark plugs and new timing belt" = while it's a diesel engine with chain timing !

On hifi ads:
"Technics SL-1200mkII, needs a new belt as the platter runs slow" = lol

Here's a good one.

I was looking for a cheap and trashy GE Monitor Top fridge cabinet. Wanted it to use for testing cooling units which people bring for repair, without their cabinet. It didn't need to be "nice" just not completely falling apart.

I found a picture of a rusted and abused cabinet on Craigslist within an hour of home. The ad said "<span style="text-decoration: underline;">GE Monitor Top Refrigerator, rare and vintage! Needs Freon</span>." They had one picture of a cabinet with a homemade wood cover on top.

When I contacted the seller, she told me that a serviceman looked at it, and said it needed Freon but he couldn't figure out where to put the Freon in. I explained that while these didn't use Freon, the gas does go in the unit through the service port on the top next to the compressor.

After further talking, I realized that the entire top assembly (cooling unit) was missing. There was a cord connected only to the cabinet light circuit. She thought that was the only cord to the fridge. She would not budge off the $500 price and cussed me out, saying "All you people need to stop trying to rip me off!  I'm a woman but that doesn't mean I don't know what I'm saying!  I know what I've got, and it's $500 FIRM!!!!

All I could do is just sit there and shake my head slowly while the temporarily paralyzed brain cells started working again.

I’m surprised

She didn’t say she had another prospective buyer willing to pay $550

I agreed to purchase some wrought iron columns in Mississippi but was having trouble working out scheduling with the seller. I told her that I had committed to buy but if someone made an offer before I could pick them up to go ahead and sell them.

She unloaded on me saying she knew I was going to back out and was a horrible buyer and she could have sold them for more if she hadn’t held them for me. I was kind of relieved. I had agreed to pay more than I wanted—which I would have honored. I politely responded that I was no longer interested in buying them and go a rude “I wouldn’t sell the to you anyway.” Shortly after I found twice as many wrought iron pieces for 1/2 the price. I drove about an hour and a half to get the, but the seller and his wife were delightful.
Last time I checked, she still had those columns.
Clueless sellers... she’ll have that fridge for decades.

All for only $375.00
