Well, thanks to some new bits (thanks Seamus!), I got my Hoover wringer washer going properly today. The new pump impeller was for later TTs and was too big, but after 5 minutes with a Stanley knife it fitted and worked perfectly...

The machine now runs fine, and was great fun to use - followed each wash with two rinses in the sink, and then a final one in the tub. I was suprised how well the wringer perfomed - after two wrings the washing was drier than I'd expected, and it *could* take jeans, despite what I had remembered and its small size!

The wash action on single tubs and early twinnies seems a lot more vigourous than on a square cabinet twinnie.

Pedal operated - only the last power wringers had this.

The pump is driven by a tyre from the motor, and the impeller runs all the time it empties. Keeping the lid on is vital!

Im thinking it cant hurt to try a new Pulsator belt on the 3314L- will get hold of one for ya to try

Wow, must stir up a good suds-cake while draining if that impeller keeps going----certainly splashy!

Is the impeller on the side-wall or on the bottom?

Great machine Si! In the states we had single tub washers, but I don't think an electric wringer was available.

The impeller (pulsator disc) is at the rear-wall of the machine - like with mine, too. (Hoovermatic 3301L)
They are definitely great machines and soooooooooooo fast!

Seamus, let me have a check of the 3314L before I splash out! Mike, I think, mentioned that these later machines motors 'float' on the drive belt, hence the relative lack of out-and-out viciousness! Incidentally, the UHU seems to have fixed the old pump from the wringer washer too - although you saw how grotty it was, so I propably won't use it again...!

This machine will drench everything around it when draining without the lid on - even when it is on and draining, water splashes up between the tub and lid. Also, as there so spin side, it soaks the floor to the right of it when washing in a lids off stylee.

It's also noisier than the 3314L, thanks to its separate wash and wring drives. It jangles away when washing, although it does have distinct overtones of pneumatic drill... I can assure Hoover twin tub owners that a power wringer Hoover makes your machine seem quiet, splash-free and effortless in comparison!

Scott, I have seen hand-cranked Hoover wringers for the US market. Hoover single tubs were pretty dinky compared to other British washers of the time, so I'd love to know what the Stateside market made of them!

It amazes me that someone actually bought my machine as late as 1976 as it seems so archaic, but it is fun!
