GE Dryer - any good? Help me please

It would need a fairly hefty power supply Since I believe the heaters alone on these things pull 5.2kwh. Might be best to get it checked/installed by a qualified electrician, no offence intended to anyone, but U.S. electrical safety regulations seem pretty lax compared to ours.

Are U.S. city-dwellers ready for European appliances?

There are a few things that have been missed here Firstly, an 18 inch "Slimline" dishwasher is not normal size here, most dishwashers are 60cm (24in) wide as in America, the slimline models are for kitchens where space is a premium. Secondly, most people do not have "undercounter" Fridges...

    Indesit brochure

Never seen the dryer! Wonder who made it? I can't help but notice the low power rating for the heating element, 1800w! Never seen a dryer that only requires a 10amp fuse either. The brochures are wonderful, I've never seen the 800 spin model until now, but I had heard of it. Matt

    Freda washing machine ???

Perhaps She was sick and tired of everything, when she called them last night from Glasgow?

    Hoover WDYN 9646G-80

Normal... The door look is unlatched by a bimetallic strip, it has to heat up for a little while until it unlatches.

    Hoover A3110 Washing Machine Restoration 1980 Model...Part 2

Amazing Looks like a lot of hard work, but all worthwhile to see the final results! Now...when is the next 'drop in' to get mine overhauled? ;) Matt

15 items from our childhood new household will never see

480 SD CRT It probably helps that our SD tvs are 625 line PAL. Comparing SD on an LCD/Plasma tv to a CRT I say the CRT will always win. If only it were possible to get an HD CRT!

15 items from our childhood new household will never see

Interesting Although I have never seen or heard of a bun warmer, apart from wood panelling (which I think is hideous!) I have all of those things in my house! With regards to CRT TVs, I think the picture is vastly superior to LCD, plasma or LED, not to mention those horrible rear projection...

15 old house features we were wrong to abandon??

Letterbox? Is that really an abandoned feature over there? I have never seen a house without one!

Supreme Court Sniffs At Smelly Washers Case

Why is a court of law even entertaining this case? Washing machines develop mould and smell because of constant washing at low temperatures, not using enough detergent, not using any bleaching agents (or degergents containing them) and leaving the door closed between loads/leaving the completed...

    NHS Standards For Hospital Laundry

Washman I'm sorry, but did you actually pay any attention to the links Laundress posted? They are discussing the procedures taken in British hospitals to avoid cross-contamination and deal with infected laundry, infact the methods they discuss would be considered thorough and "wasteful" by...

    Dettol Laundry Sanitiser

mine get either liquid or powder at either 40c or 60c, I'm not fussed, as long as they look and smell clean, they're clean!

    Dettol Laundry Sanitiser

Wouldn't waste your money No laundry requires sanitising beyond a level that warm to hot water and detergent provides. Plus bacteria can build up immunity to products such as these. Let's not forget that expose to bacteria is vital to support a healthy immune system, so attempting to...

    UK Kitchens

'Oversized appliances' I will admit I'm a bit of an inverted snob, I find oversized or overstated decor and appliances very vulgar. I always go for subtle and understated. 'American style' refrigerators have become the height of tacky status symbols here! We have a fridge freezer which is...

Colston Ariston Automatic Wash and Tumble Dry 850 XD

Fantastic video That spin is so bizarre! If I didn't know that was normal I would certainly think it was faulty! How dry would you say it gets the clothes compared to other 800 spin machines? Matt

    Haier washer dryer

There are lots of reasons a fuse may blow So the machine isn't necessarily faulty, have you tried it again to see if it still works? Matt

Fisher & Paykel EW50 "Gentle Annie" Washing Machine 1987

Lovely Thanks for posting this Mike, have been dying to see this one in action for years! Love the strange electrical sounding motor, a bit like a robot walking on agitate and an electric tube train accelerating and decelerating from spin! Matt

    Hoover "Hooverette"

Nice machine Have always loved the design of these, sadly I am yet to use one. Were these sold in the former Yugoslavia or would this have been initially purchased in another Country? Matt

Front load washer used as portable

Rather than capping the hot fill Might be worthwhile trying to get a hold of a y-piece adaptor like the one linked below. On some cycles the machine will be trying to fill from hot only and if this is capped it simply won't fill at all. Not sure about the electronics side of it, it wouldnt be...
