    It's raining Kitchen Aids..

Patrick's KDIS21 came out in late 1985. After Whirlpool acquired KA in 1986, they continued this as model KUDI21S through 1987. Patrick--you might look on the water valve, motor relay, or blower motor for a date code. T.

    It's raining Kitchen Aids..

Patrick, that micro mesh on your Imperial Selectra is vital. The space below it is the soil collection chamber--during washing and rinsing, water is pumped up through it by the drain impeller. If the micro filter is compromised in any way, anything that can pass through the turquoise drain...

    It's raining Kitchen Aids..

Kelly's machine is a KUDS22. The Superba linked to in chachp's other post (conveniently relinked below) is an early KUDS23. It's only outward difference from the KUDS22 are in the indicator lights (Heating Water, Wash/Rinse, Dry, Cycle Complete, and Please Wait). The white-on-white Superba...

    How old is this dishwasher?

Glenn, the KUDJ23 looked similar to the Hobart KDC21A and later KUDC21, and KUDI22--the same control panel design, a timer knob on the left, and Pots/Pans, Normal, Light/China, Rinse/Hold and Energy Saver Dry buttons on the right. The only real difference betweeen the KUDI22 and KUDJ23 was a...

    How old is this dishwasher?

Your mom's machine is from the early 23 series, 1993-1995. You can usually find decent racks on ebay. If the racks aren't too rusty, you can repair them with paint-on vinyl touch-up and plastic caps that push down over the rack prongs (available at any appliance parts store). I would consider...

    It's raining Kitchen Aids..

This is the last "good" KitchenAid Superba--made from 1995-1997. It is a model KUDS230B. I felt that they had finally perfected the pushbutton control with this model. When the door is unlatched, only the START button pops out--the cycle and options remain selected. So when, say, someone else...

    The adventure begins!

I love it! Even the booze is color coordinated! Looks like you two are having a riot. Can't wait for the unveiling. T.

I'm back! And look what I brought with me....

Dan, if I had read the previous posts more throroughly, I would have known you were forearmed with a service manual and wouldn't have nattered on so. Hmm, I hope it's been converted too...somehow the thought of a surface burner turning on and off on its own unattended with--I'm guessing--no...

I'm back! And look what I brought with me....

Dan, my grandmother had a Tappan Silhouette range with those exact burners. The flame comes out as a continuous circle around the center insert--very cool looking, and Tappan bragged that they couldn't clog because of this design. Her range had a burner-with-a-brain and that particular burner...

I don't have this machine, just remembered it a wondered about its origin. :) T.

    German KitchenAid

Thanks Jon! Would it probably have been made by Bauknecht then? T.

    German KitchenAid

It does look sort of like a Bosch machine, but I'm not sure. Here's the link to the manual in PDF format. The control and interior images might help in identification. http://www.kitchenaid.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%209741195.pdf

    German KitchenAid

In the early '90s, KitchenAid sold a German-made, tall-tub stainless-interior dishwasher in addition to their regular models. The model was KUDN230Y0. Does anyone know who manufactured this machine? T.

    Top-Load KitchenAid Dishwashers c. 1971???

I'm pretty sure this was the last model of topload portables. and that production stopped in 1976 when the 18 series came out. The toploaders must not have been very cost-effective to make since they shared so few parts with the rest of KAs dishwashers.

    L'Aide de la Cuisine

The 15, 16, and early 17 series machines had pins out to the outboard edge of the rack. Somewhere in the 17 series they eliminated the outermost pins to make room for wider things like baking pans. The rack pictured is from before they did that. The brochure seems to be dated 9/71, which would...

    L'Aide de la Cuisine

Stainless interiors Superbas were allegedly available in the US with stainless interiors for a number of years. I'm not sure what series that started with, but the 18-series manual was the last to mention the care of the stainless interior. I'm guessing that the price premium was more than...

    L'Aide de la Cuisine

I'll tell you why it's a DC motor--because apparently I can't type a physics test passage about DC current and look at discussomat at the same time. Of course it's not a DC motor. It's a 220V motor. It looks about half the height of the US motor. And according to the brochure it's 1/3...
