For the past few months, the fabric softener dispenser on my 1987 Kenmore Limited Edition Electronic Fabric Care washer has been overflowing when it activates during the rinse cycle.
(I am not currently filling the dispenser with fabric softener).
It is not because it's plugged up as water is passing through it as it should.
The water comes in so forcefully that the dispenser overflows and water will actually even get onto the top if I have the lid open.
It does this both times that the fabric softener dispenser activates during the rinse cycle.
The bleach dispenser and the detergent dispenser work just fine.
My house water pressure is 60 so it's not that.
Any ideas?
THANKS!

Over flushing fabric softener dispenser

I’ve seen this happen. You can try replacing the triple valve that supplies, the water to the fabric softener dispenser, you can also try restricting the water flow by pinching that hose pretty heavily, you could also just unplug the solenoid for the fabric software solenoid if you don’t use fabric softener and just go without this feature, but basically the flow restrictor In the dispenser valve has probably worn out and is allowing too much water to pass through.
