Last night washing a rug, (heavy cotton from a bathroom) and went to the laundry room and almost broke my neck. WATER all over the floor. And a lot. Well we know these machines dont use much, so I got it cleaned up and decided to find the leak. First guess was the gasket. NOPE. When it is filling water sprays out from the fill flume all over inside the cabinet, with some going into the washer. Will have to figure out how to take it further apart to see what is going on. Real different from working on vintage machines. YUK. Gotta figure out how to get the top off of the machine to reveal the truth

I know Brent in Atlanta had changed his door gasket one time. Maybe he could be a coach!

Hey Steve that is really a shame, these machines sure aren't very old!! Did you buy the service contract with yours?? Keep us posted as to what the problem is.

Been there Brother!

Take a look at the archive for thread 11477. I had to replace the main bearing and washtub on my HE3t. My partmer says he would prefer to be off island next time I work on that machine-I guess my mouth got a bit salty as I was trying to reassemble. (*^&%@!)

Simple Fix

Hi Steve,
You need to quit overloading your Machine!!! Just kidding.
That sucks though, and is very scary! Glad you were able to catch it in time.
It sounds like the fill flume has come out of the gasket hole somewhat. If some of the water is going into the tub, and some of it is not, then it is half in, and half out. You might be able to fix it just by taking off the top of the machine. The screws that hold the top are on the back. Just take them off, and then slide the top towards the back. You will see the fill flume going into the gasket.
Also, you can run your fingers into the opening where the water passes through the gasket. Do this with just the door open. Feel with your fingers and see if you can push the hard plastic fill flume back through the hole. What you would actually be doing is pushing the gasket opening back over the plastic fill flume inlet.
I did have to replace the door gasket last summer, and it took about 40 minutes. This is a very easy machine to work on.
If you can work on your vintage machines the way you do, this machine will be a snap! And I do mean snap, because most of the machine is a snap together pull apart design.
Go to the link I provided. It is the Duet Service Manual. It is the same for your HE3T. Download it and save it. It is a very good tech manual.
Keep us posted on what you find out.

Oh Well....the link will not work for some reason....
If anyone wants a copy...email me, and I will send it to you....electronically through this new thing they call E mail.

There was just too much www., http. and .com's in the address line. Cleaned up and working - here is the link. Thanks for (trying ;-) to post this, Brent, I've wanted the Duet version of the manual and it's nice to have on the computer instead of trying to find somewhere to put it in the house!

Steve, this sounds like an easy repair - you'll be tumbling again in no time. Water on the floor sucks - not as bad as oil, a drop feels like a gallon - but it's always a mess. Do you have one of those carpet cleaners? I've needed a wet-dry vac for a long time but have used my Hoover Steam-Vac for just water pick up more times than I care to remember. It's bound to happen with a house full of water-using appliances!

Fixed - Done - Washing Again

My oh My, you'd thought I have known you all for many years the way you all ran to my rescue. THANKS so much for all the information.

The problem was this litte hose that connects to the "Window Washer" as pictured.

The bath rug that I was washing went so out of balance in the machine that it kicked the hose off of the white water outlet pictured below. I am very taken that there is no hose clamp etc to hold this hose on. Could only imagine that it would tear the door gasket if something was there to hold the hose on?????????????? Go figure.

I know I wont be running this machine again if I am not home!

Thanks all your concern and all who helped!

Steve
