My SQ ST ran pretty well for about 3.5 years, then last fall I had to get a big channel locks on the pump shaft to unseize it if it sat more than 2 or 3 days. Finally it wouldn't budge and so the motor would overheat and kick off. With 4 other washers hooked up and running, I just moved it aside until today. I've now removed the pump and look at what happened as it sat for 6 months, maybe 9 months. The pot metal crap just deteriorated so horribly that it let the tension of the belt pull the shaft crazy right thru the entire cheap assembly!!

Link is to the first ever post I did on this machine, next entry will also link to the second thread.

more on pump

Sears s direct and another for Speed Queen DA3780 both say the pump is #25178, and Ebay has one for $50 right in Cleveland.
My machine is the LATE MODEL reversing motor type, not the 50-60's to 71 or 72 solenoid type assembly.

For sure hoping to get the correct pump!

well for the reversing motor machines, the spin of course is clockwise, and so the outlet port should face a clockwise position....

there were for the most part, two styles of impeller port sections, small and large...

what I had to do once, was purchase a pump for the banging solenoid machine, which spun counter-clockwise....and just take the bottom portion from the old pump, and install on the new unit...at least those two parts are interchangeable....

as these machines get older, you do have to keep an eye on the grease inside the pump....preference goes to the pumps with the grease fitting, saves time from taking it all apart...

keep us posted on how you make out.....

I can't get a clear enough view on this one to tell which way it pumps out....

maybe ask the seller for a better, out of bag pic?

but at least its only 39.00...

even so, as mentioned, the bottom can be switched to make it aim in the right direction....

Solid Tub SQ Washer Pumps

Hi Mark, yes when the seals fail and the bearings run dry with only water as lubricant we have seen bearing water so much that the shaft is at much more of an angle than yours is. I have seen Norge washer pumps wear to the point that the skirt on the impeller was completely worn away.

I will look and see if I have a pump for your reversing SQ washer.

work perfectly

And I simply tightened the belts and it's running well. For years I had to micro-tighten/micro manage the belts to keep it running, all the while it was that pump just fading horribly.
This is one of the all time fun washers, one of my all time faves!
And that grease port will become a frequent maintenance spot, happily.
No leaks at all, I replaced a Corbin clamp with a screw clamp..I hate corbin clamps.
