Evening all,

Tonight seen me parting ways with a much younger machine and coming home with a much older machine... Earlier on in the week I was browsing Gumtree, nothing usually surfaces locally for me but looks like I was in for an early festive treat! A lovely lady just 20 mins away from me won a new washing machine, so she put her old washer/dryer online. I contacted her about the washer/dryer as soon as I seen her ad on Gumtree. She explained that winning a new washing machine has caused a predicament for her as she has no dryer and it would not be economical to use her washer/dryer as a dryer, we made a great deal whereby I gave her my Hotpoint TDL30 in exchange for her 1990 Hoover Logic A8572 washer/dryer!!!
So I went and got the machine tonight and dropped the dryer off, everyone was satisfied and I brought the Logic back.

It's in very good condition, could do with a boil wash and a polish but it's fab! Even the drawer push button works! It was made in December 1990 so it's 22 years old. Oh and it's in that lovely Harmony Beige colour. I think I'll sot my Hoover Dryer De Luxe up on top of it even if they don't exactly match.

Hoover Logic

Well done in getting yourself this classic Washer/Dryer, how are the bearings on it. Great pictures, it looks in great condition.

looks really lovely, it almost looks like new. Congrats on your latest acquisition.

I look forward 2 hear how u get on with it. :)

Looks to be a rusty stain down the backplate so there could be a drum bearing problem. It looks like the bearing kits are still available.

Rust?

looks more like sealant glue runs to me. as there is no rust on the steel mounting plates for the motor or water corrosion marks on the alloy backplate, so therefore i would be surprised if this were the case.

Still james is more than capable of checking for play on the main bearings so it should not be a problem either way.

Great find by the James in such good visual condition, a nice alternative to the Hotpoints, did you see the Logic 1100 for sale in Antrim?

Gary

Evening all,

The bearings are fine guys, I don't know what that stain is but it's not a sign of water penetration. There are only two minor niggles with it that will be fixed on Wednesday before I do a boil wash in it. The locking washer on the pulley must be either missing or broken off therefore the drum freewheels a millimeter each way. I suppose I can just make a new locking tab for it and that will sort it. The second minor niggle is that the plastic clip on the pipe from the bottom end of the condenser is broken (just about visible in the pictures) I will fit a jubilee clip on it just in case but I don't think it has ever caused a leak. I have to admit the porthole is tiny compared to the classic Hotpoint's!

Logic In Antrim

James

The logic that Gary refers to above has been re-listed with a starting price of only £1 - Ballymoney is not that far from Donegal too. The machine is known to a member on here (andyzanni I think) who has referred to it in a thread.

Go on (go on go on go on LOLOLOL), treat yourself for Christmas :)

Logic al

Thanks for pointing out the proximity of the Logic Al to me it would be an obvious choice to go for, but not knowing of James's situation its not for me to say he should buy it, but as the Trusty Ms Doyle says go on .......

If James is getting into Hoover logics he may aswell buy a pack of 5 tab washers (always good to have spares), though i admit they are expensive considering what they are.

Morning guys,

Just to confirm that I will not be going for the machine in Antrim. I know one can never have too many but I'd rather save the space for an Electron or Keymatic. That being said I am on the look out for an A3060 for the Dryer De Luxe to sit on top of. This Logic is my Xmas pressie to myself hehehe!
