anyone have any milnor or other commercial machines set up in
you home or in your collection?any dry clean machines?
once at the dump found a big italian made dry clean machine
-it was to big for me to drag off,but i did manage to get the
twin cylinder air compressor,a pump,a bunch of switches,
a couple gauges,and some electrical parts off it before it got
buried in the heap.It was 1999 when i found this 1984 vintage
machine and other than a burnt up contactor and some bad
connections to a calrod heater in the sump,appeared to be in
good shape...One detail i remember was in the sump were two
little round windows with a knob in the center that turned a
little wiper to clear the inside of the windows-thought those
were kinda cool..

I don't have any dry clean machines, Those are just too big to pull home, and the sizes that I've looked at are too big to fit into the house. Running one of those machine is not a problem, but transportation and safety while doing so is.

I do have commercial FL machines though. The smallest that I have is 12LB and the biggest is 40LB. I have 1974 Wascomat W73 (18LB), 1995 Wascomat Extract-o-matic p12-> it is Asko Linda built machine, 1989 Primus W10 22LB machine (2), 1989 Ipso WE165 40 LB machine.
 
Here is the W73. It has been used and abused, it still works, but needs to be restored. It is a 3phase, rigid base model with the cast iron dump valve on it.

Here is the Wasco-Asko-Linda machine. It still works, is a soft mount machine->can be fun in the right setting. Runs on 120V 1Phase, kinda heavy. Could use a restore too.

Here is a earlier picture of the Primus, when it was installed. I originally got 2 of these from Chicago. I did do a restoration on this machine, the owners took ok care of it, compared to how the Ipso was cared for. This machine is heavy too->comes in ~425LB.

most of the commercial front loads i have found at the dump or
at junkyards have been partly stripped or are missing the
motor or other important parts-one did still have it's "elmo"
motor,so i grabbed that then later sold it to someone who
brought me an identical but ruined elmo(bearing failed and
rubbed the stator bad)
Do any of your machines have induction motors the switch
directly from tumble to spin rpm or vice-versa?-used to
enjoy hearing that screeching sound in laundromats!
I was kinda saddened to find that nice italian dry clean at
the dump that apparently only needed a new contactor and
misc.other electrical repair-i am sure there was lots of
years left in it with a little TLC...machine probably
weighed in at 1200-1500LBS,a big load for a pickup truck.
I also wanted to take the motor and a big blower off this
machine but it got buried in junk before i could..
BTW every single dry clean machine i have seen have been
made in italy-so most are italian?
 
I don't know very much about the dry cleaning machines yet, but all my commercial FL machines, with the exception of the Asko built machine, and the second Primus, which I call W10X^2 have standard 2 speed Elmo 3 phase induction motors. The original Primus has a reversing timer and contactor to change the direction of the motor at tumble speed. There is a separate contactor for the extract speed. Tumble speed ~330 RPM, and extract speed is ~3350 RPM for the motor.
During the start of Extract the motor change from tumble speed to extract speed. The machine slows the cylinder down from extract speed by activating one of the tumble speed contractors. That's why the machines make that loud whurr sound when they slow down.

For the Ipso, reversing is done by the reversing timer and the contactor coil stays energized.

It's not good for the rotor to rub the stator. The motor in the Ipso started doing that.

The Asko built machine goes from tumble to extract speed, and then depending of cycle, to hi-speed extract.The motor in this machine is part induction, part brush.

Primus W10X^2 that I am working on uses vectorless VFD with with Inverter Duty TEFC 3 phase Motor. Motor Nameplate RPM ~3510, 3HP. Max cylinder RPM is in the 1730 RPM range, but I keep it at ~1200 RPM.
