Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hmmmm I want to say 806 or at the very least 606. It's hard to see exactly how many buttons there are for each function. As far as the back light, I can't say for sure. Most likely they do have them if they are the higher end models.

I'm going to say no.

Unless I'm mistaken, for the generation of machines shown only the 806 and above would have lighted panels. One feature common to the 806 machines is a small strip of chrome plated metal starting at the 12 o'clock position of the center dial surround and extending straight up to the top center of the control panel frame. The picture isn't very clear, but I don't see it in the washer photo. As for the dryer, it's so out of focus that it's really hard to tell, but there's a good possibility that the object seen above the center dial is a pilot light. But if you're looking for a set I'd ask the seller to email better photos, or ask them to look up the model numbers for you just to be sure.

I did email the seller for some model numbers, but have yet to hear back.
Is it possible to retrofit a lit control panel to either or both of thes machiens say if I should find one?
The set is selling for $265, worth it?

I would imagine a lighted control panel could be installed on the lower models, but remember, the 806 machines have functions(and the corresponding buttons)that the lower models don't, so your finished product may end up looking like a jerry rigged monstrosity. Besides that, when you find the lighted 806 panels to put on the machines, they're likely to have an 806 washer and dryer attached to them. Since the 806 machines turn up fairly regularly, I'd wait.

And since you asked, $265 seems rather pricey to me.

I agree that the subject machines are over-priced.  IIRC, there have been a number of links to CL ads posted here showing 806 pairs in decent shape with asking price of $200 or less.

I spoke to the seller again about these and we eventually worked out a deal for him to deliver them to me for $220, except something came up I wasn't expecting. While trying to find the original listing on Craigslist, I stumbled upon something I really must have. So I politely backed out of our deal and instead texted the owner of this Neptune MDE7500 dryer that was 80 miles away. We worked out a deal where he would deliver it the next day for $200. Needless to say I am very excited to have her in my possession.
This is my third Neptune dryer in 3 weeks...I now have all three original versions. Dial, LED, and LCD.
So much for my vintage fix.
